Into the Lands of the Gods

Unified Discussion Into the Lands of the Gods (Final)

Into the realm of supernatural figmentations
I drifted off, within my newest imagination,
To interview all the living Gods there,
Some who’ve left and some yet ‘ruling’ everywhere.

Dragon. I can debate with you any point that you will have me, but the whole thing is just too much.

We, the peoples of the earth are coming to one world religion. This is the religion where faith and science meet and we live together in harmony with no war. For war is no longer taught; it is passed away. It only takes the open mind of all peoples to do so. So we must only work on ourselves and stop antagonizing rites of an ancient millennia. - Affluence8

It's for those who want the truth, no matter where it leads, such as on forums, which, yes, could affect the status of superstitions.

    ...Or the superstitions of status.

Here's my take on this: If your belief supposes it canot be affected,
why go out of your way to save the damned thing? It's essentially already lying to you, by pretending nothing could contradict it.

I've never seen a problem with re-examining religious explanations and finding naturalistic ones. All it does is re-define things. And, frankly, we don't need to involve "God" when, say, the solar system is discussed.

    Can you support that?
In my experience that is not what is occurring.
Science and religion don't meet nor do they generally conflict as there is normally a barrier in between. Religion is a belief and nothing more where as science is much more. Science refuses to accept things on gut feel and subjective experiences and bases itself firmly in the objective. When the two try to mix, as in intelligent design, the mixture fails.

So you question superstition. My question for you will be then would you willfully walk under ladders? Break mirrors ? How bout doing something risky of friday the 13th? Like jump out of an air plane if its your first time. Play with a ouija board? Could you pray in a seemingly hopeless life of death situation? How do you handle these things?

I now you asked this of DF, but I agree with him in this regard and felt I should answer.

    I will and have.

    Break mirrors ?
Generally not because they cost money. Buy me a mirror to break and I would without hesitation as long as you are going t clean up the broken bits.

Sounds like a great idea! often do things on Friday the 13th just to show people I am not superstitious.

I have, but I don't think they really work, but they can be fun.

Could I? I suppose I could, but I am not likely to, as I don't believe in such things.

I put a Chapter 11 in my book and then I went bankrupt. I lived on the 14th floor, not realizing that they had purposely omitted floor 13, and my apartment collapsed. All my checks bounced on Friday the 13th. I have 14 cats, two of them black, and the other cats don’t like them. I ditched church and then fell down, hurting my knee, so I prayed to God to make my knees feel the same; he then made the other knee go bad. I feel asleep driving once, and brushed up against a mail truck; this broke my side mirror, waking me up when the glass shattered all over me. I jumped out of a plane with no parachute; luckily the plane was still on the ground. I was nearly trapped in a DIA/Special Forces attack mission in Cambodia, but escaped, running 12 miles through the jungle back to the river for a helicopter pickup. Walked under a ladder and a bucket of diamonds fell off, making me rich. They were robbing a jewelry store.

Another great thing about naturalism: It offers proof of how things are related to one another. Religion seems a bit quiet in that respect.
