I wonder, too, would corporate music ever allow a song like this to be recorded today? I think not.

Dude, this got to number 1 in the UK charts:

While on the poppy end of dubstep, it is nevertheless a really good example of just the kind of weird shit that gets produced and released these days.

It is a banging club classic. That is what it is. And they are astounding live.

And like Kraftwerk, it is supposed to be mechanical. That's the whole point. Just watch the video, it is all about an Orwellian/Huxleyesque nightmare dystopia in which everyone is soulless, drugged up zombie living in a mechanised production-line society.

Oh, and this is a lead single from the most recent album I purchased:

    Hardly soulless.

    Modern music sucks.

Wait, you mean this doesn't describe real life at all?

But truth, Hajjaj was convinced, held many layers.

I think that there are plenty of good bands out there today. Let's not forget that there were a lot of one hit wonders in past decades as well and some pretty weak pop music. I also think that we are going to see more and more bands producing their own music and selling it online. Hopefully that allows for some artistic
    freedoms.

I personally think this band is great. These songs could certainly be considered classics:

That aside, there are active & recording musicians here where I live who are quite good. Too many of them are cover bands and I don't play that game myself, but they still have talent.

Barts needs to explain what's happened to the TimeLords who supposedly stopped all further cultural progress, solidifying all true music in the past like insects in sap.

A lot of classic music is underground, waiting to be discovered.

I don't think modern music sucks: there's a lot of good catchy music out there; the problem is society promotes the wrong one, like dubstep (which I think is really repetitive), hip&hop (genre that has gotten from "meh, ok" to "for Christ's sake make this stop" due to very repetitive lyrics and rhythms), etc.

I usually listen to indie music (I ain't no hipster), I just like the fresh sound of new people that haven't lost their "musical virginity" before signing some goddamn contract with some musical company that will probably turn them into a commercial band in less than a year.

    There it is, my opinion.

P.S. I know this post is rather old, but I think it's worth a talk

Dub step is just a angry psychadelic rendition of house and dance music. it is like the most sensational music because it has the most information flowing through your head at once as possible, and it excites a lot of those emotions. i hate it, but hope i don't grow out of touch with what is going on nowadays, and hope the next version of dance music is better, or whatever comes along.

!! Going to my destruction !!
