Usually it's just easier to pay the freeloaders what they want, because a person like that isn't going to do much with their lives regardless, and the benefits of providing the aid far outweigh the extra cost of supporting the freeloaders.
I don't understand AC. You're basically saying just go ahead and award "freeloaders" for being worthless because they're not "going to do much with their lives regardless" as you say?

Well if that's the case 'Who gets to vote or pay for this plan'?

The level of naivete contained within this short snippet is off the charts. There will always be abuse in any system of government aid. The question is whether it's worth it to focus on the tiny fraction of milkers compared to the massive number of legitimate cases of aid. Usually it's just easier to pay the freeloaders what they want, because a person like that isn't going to do much with their lives regardless, and the benefits of providing the aid far outweigh the extra cost of supporting the freeloaders.
This has nothing to do with the point I raised, the point I raised was that the level or generosity of welfare has no effect on unemployment rates. Which fluctuate for several different reasons.

I would argue they do, in all cases but Norway. There's a reason the average unemployment rate of Europe is higher than the average unemployment rate of America.

Has nothing to do with "awarding" them. These people are going to be wastes of space regardless.

And you put this down to the rate of unemployment benefit?

Lets look at countries within Europe.

Germany for example over a 10 year period.

Portal Seven | Unemployment Rate - Germany (including ex-GDR from 1991)

    France over the same period.

Portal Seven | Unemployment Rate - France

    Spain over the same period.

Portal Seven | Unemployment Rate - Spain

All of these economies are diverse and completely different, the unemployment rate in Germany now is lower than in the USA. I have not seen any major cuts to benefits in Germany, there has however been a massive reduction in German unemployment. In France there has been austere cuts to welfare, and unemployment is going up.

There are reasons for Europe having a higher unemployment rate than the USA in the past, none of these issues however are linked to the level of unemployment benefit.
