It contains entries on all the major and many minor religions, including Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Shinto, Sikhism, and Taoism.
Now see, in my opinion and based on what I've studied about Taoism I do not consider it a religious belief. What I know of Taoism is that it's rooted in naturalism and deals mostly with our perception of the natural world. That's my impression and interpretation of Taoism. I certainly wouldn't spend 20 posts trying to convince anyone else whether or not it's a religious belief. It doesn't matter to me. What I take away from my study of Taoism has nothing to do with any definition of religion, even the 5th or 6th definition.

I love Taoism. I do consider it a religion.

I would have to agree with you 100% that it's not a religion. However, isn't it interesting to see how those that have questioned me on my understanding of Baddhism haven't questioned you about your understanding of Taoism with the same veracity. This act of silence could be almost seen as a cabal, or at the very least a double standed when it comes to a certain persons opinions.

You both are wrong. Taoism is a religion. It's nice to know you have nothing substantial to say in relation to my post about how your source of authority clearly deems Buddhism and Taoism as religions.

It's practically impossible to disagree with someone who makes it clear that he's expressing an opinion based on personal interpretation and application. I'm not attempting to define Taoism for everyone everywhere nor do I have any interest in doing so. I don't consider Taoism a religion and don't treat it as such. That's a personal conclusion based on reading many books about the subject and the way I apply it in my life. I'm making no effort to tell anyone else how they should view Taoism and their conclusions have no impact on my own. There is no penalty in Taoism for those who disagree over it, no hell for those who might apply its teachings in a way inconsistant with the majority of Taoists.
