Seven Friends for Peace

So I believe that the more we get to know each other the better the wolrld will be. In light of this belief I would love to set up a website similiar to face book but with a built in universal translator so that we can freely communicate with most anyone....of course there will be limits to the translator but I am confident that the technology for this is already being used. Anyway the idea is that you go to the site and select a person to friend from each of the seven continents...These are your seven friends for peace...These are people that you will get to know and by doing this we willl learn about other cultures and how are friends live and this will help us to work together...

Along with this basic theme we could add things like activities that require each of the friends to do something with a prize or something...maybe get everyone in the winning group together for a World Cruise.

Anyway, I post this thread and wish that the Universe make this reality...The idea is not intended to be for Profit...Any proceeds will be used for Action by the Members of the site...The idea of the site is for us all to make connections that will help us better our own lives by helping others better thier lives...I would like to see some sort of organisational structure similiar to what the Occupy group was/is using...I do not want to have the Money or power condensed into just a small number of people...The entire organisation needs to be completely transparent in any and all activites with every bit of info availabe to anyone...This is not meant to limit the activities to only non contreversial topics or methods...It is only meant to make it clear that nothing the group or site ever does will be kept secret...We are a group of Peace and Unity...

I want to be involved and hope that I can be of assistance, but I simply do not have the necessary skillset to even set up a basic website...so I seek assistance and Ideas...help us make this a reality...I would love to use such a site...imagine if our discussion here included people from all over the world and we could communicate as if we were using the same language...we would get viewpoints that we just don't see now...Anyway...Yes I am a dreamer but some dreams do come true...I have a whole "Eco-system" to go along with this idea and I will share as the thread progresses. ...I am looking forward to some interesting ideas...Please share this thread with anyone that you think might be able to assist in this idea.

Firstly, there are only 6 continents with regular human inhabitants, so a member of your site would only have 5 friends, not 6. Unless you want to befriend someone on your own continent, which seems kind of silly to me.

Secondly, this isn't realistic. A translator could not be built (or has not been, anyway) to interpret the vocabulary, grammar, and semantic context of every conversation in every language in relation to all the other languages. You'd need an army of multilingual staff to translate 24/7 between each of the members of the group, and I am confident that no one can provide proof that such a number of people proficient in any combination of 6 languages exists.

Thirdly, the variation between populations on each of the continents would require you to restrict the number of people who can participate on the network. Otherwise, you'd have an inordinate number of black Africans, Muslims, and Chinese people without any whities to talk to.

I think you would have to outsource the translating to another company, probably google. I'm sure they would go along with the idea for a price. Also I imagine you would have to incentive people to bother meeting new people, maybe some sort of points system for how many conversations you have or something.
With the right direction and commitment, this website could become something special. However I dont think this forum is the right place to be starting. I suggest you go to elance.com and offer a price to freelancers to create this website for you. I have used elance before and it is a extremely well developed website and it works great. Good luck.
P.S: The universe wont help you, only you can help you. If your willing to be 101% into this project, for a long time, then I'm sure you will meet with success (eventually).

And you say the Universe won't help me....You could not more wrong...You are part of the universe and you helped...you see it does work...I have found that the universe will provide almost anything I ask for...all I have to do is ask and then of course be prepared to act on the opportunities that the universe provides to fulfill the request...sometimes it is not exactly clear how things fit together but if I stick with it and follow the leads it ends up fulfilling the request..It is amazing really...It seems to be especially effective if the request is in writing...Try it and see if this also works for you, I bet it does...I thought it was stupid and silly too...until I tried it...They only thing I can come up with is that it is somehow related to quantum mechanics...or it is just Magic...either way it works for me...as you so clearly demonstrated...sweet...and of course it works since the universe is just an extension of myself...for I am all there is...We two are one...as is everything...it only exists because I/we will it to be so and therefore it is...All I need to do is state the change and if the universe consents the change exists as if it was always that way and nobody seems to notice...it appears to happen naturally....some would say I am Lucky...maybe...but I don't think so...I think it is just asking...and expecting a response...It is not just asking but actually expecting that something will happen...I guess it is a form of prayer...hmm...never thought of it that way...

I think that perhaps the idea is based on a false assumption. In my Country it is generally agreed that most nationalists have had too much to do with English, and I myself have given up most American sites because I found myself begining to detest Republicans and - more and more - America. Discovering how very different we are suggests that only sympathetic persons should be in contact with one another, the wholly untypical, usually, of their native populations.

Yes and Iola once again you have only recently become so different, let's not forget your former imperialstic king which we the people defeated during the revolution because he was trying to steal all of americas riches for himself. None of these other countries are so great as you all suggest. Also what does my governments decions which I cannot control directly have to do with me? His whole point is to get people to talk and work through differences and learn but you suggest just cutting yourself off to achieve the opposite goal.
