From the initial 911 call, it's pretty clear that Travon was running away, with Zimmerman following him. The comment by Zimmerman that "These assholes always get away" sums up his frame of mind. He wasn't going to let the kid get away. If Zimmerman had just stopped following the kid, no one would have gotten hurt. Instead, Zimmerman initiated a confrontation. So why would Travon not be justified in using self defense to protect himself from someone chasing him?

The Twitter account looked genuine at first and the article made it seem like it was by claiming the picture was "widely circulated" as him, but he mentioned moving from one place to another just one month prior to his death, which the famous Trayvon did not do. Go to about page 23.

There is absolutely no evidence that he was being chased. This slender 6'2 young man would have made off like a gazelle from the pursuit of the overweight middle aged man in tow. At which point during the 911 call, Zimmerman would have been describing what the kid looked like the last time he saw him, not what he looked like right in front of him. Do you not think it's reasonable that Zimmerman would've said "He's running now" or something to that affect?
No, it is not reasonable to use violence to defend yourself from being followed by a neighborhood watch volunteer, anymore than it is reasonable to use violence to defend yourself if a security guard is following you at Wal-Mart.

OMG! My house is chock full of burglary tools! By itself, sure, these little things seem innocuous. Obviously we see a pattern that this punk was headed down the wrong path.
I find it ironic that people keep talking about the skittles in his pocket like that is somehow more potent than his previous issues with marijuana. Somehow I think the two are tied together. Munchies anyone? I would bet my right arm that the kid was high on drugs at the time he committed this violent crime.
What sucks about all this is the media and the way they have their hands tied. They cannot present this case objectively. They are forced to kiss black ass. If they present this case objectively, they face a firestorm of racist black assholes coming down on them and the loss of sponsors. This is an unfortunate side-effect of all the years of oppression that ENDED decades ago. There are countless pictures that Mrs Martin could've provided the media to show her son. She apparently chose the 5 year old photo of him looking so sweet and bright.
Treyvon died while committing a violent crime. That is why his shooter wasn't charged. That is why no jury in this country will convict Zimmerman. Get over it, black ass kissers.
What's shameful is yet again, the black community cannot take this negative and make a positive. Perhaps this case should be more about the proliferation of the black stereotype from within the black community? All Trayvon needed to do was say "OK asshole, I'll sit here and eat my skittles and wait for the cops. Then they'll tell you to back-off and leave people alone". Defending one's self against a person who is stalking and accosting someone at night is a violent crime? The "violent crime" seems to me to be self-defense.

It is not illegal to follow someone. Being in this proper context that Zimmerman was on neighborhood watch duty, it really isn't defensible for Tray to attack a man for following him. Assault and battery is a violent crime. Following someone that irks your suspicions is not a violent crime, it is not even a crime.
That is an emotional plea and is entirely off-base. The shooter was a Latino male. Last I checked they too seem to think whitey is out to get them. The police captain there is black, the prosecutor is Cuban. So we have several minorities clashing here. Leave the white man out of it. You've established that Trayvon committed a crime based on what evidence? Fighting with another person is not a crime unless it was unprovoked. Zimmerman followed Trayvon against the explicit orders of the police when he called them. We don't know if Zimmerman announced himself as a Neighborhood Watch official.
Here are as some facts that came out this morning:
2005: Zimmerman charged with resisting an officer. He was drunk. Charges waived when he entered an alcohol treatment program. Witnesses reported that Zimmerman shoved a police officer while "questioning" a friend for underage drinking in a bar.
2005: Domestic violence charge.
2012: Homicide detective wanted Zimmerman arrested on manslaughter charges but was overruled by the district attorney.
Before we slam Trayvon for his past, perhaps we should examine Zimmerman's past and present with equal interest.
