You do, however, have a responsibility to listen to the police when they tell you not to follow someone.


In view of the possibility Trayvon was defending himself against an armed aggressor with no idea why he was being confronted, and in light of his character as portrayed in the media, I think it's as unreasonable to call him a "punk" as it is to characterize Zimmerman as a murderer.

The police did not tell him "not to follow". The dispatcher said "we don't need you to do that". That is an awfully different thing, isn't it.

Why oh why do so many wish to spread incorrect information is cases such as these? There are plenty of questions to be answered in order to get a an accurate sense of what happened here. We have no need for misinformation.

And that's the key. We don't know what happened. Some news outlets STILL lack reports of the witness that described Zimmerman being on the ground with Trayvon atop him hitting him repeatedly prior to the shooting. What the hell kind of news organization is that? Why would anyone support such?

What is the impetus to make this look like what it may not be? Who benefits from this misinformation? Who is helped by creating an inaccurate picture?

Instead of jumping aboard the lynch-mob train, perhaps we could investigate the engineers.

You are severely mistaken the police have no authority over citizens unless: the citizen is under arrest, or the police are enforcing a warrant.

I think alot of folks here aren't understanding that it is not illegal to follow someone, therefor if a dispatcher advises you not to follow whomever, that is all it is, advise. It is not an order, you are not breaking any laws.

The guy was a neighborhood watch member, he was watching. He can't watch if he sits in his truck and waits for 7-9 minutes for the police to arrive.

Whats cracking me up about this is the acute lack of honesty. People see this as inherently racist because the dead person is black and they thought the killer was white. Well, he's half white so I guess that's good enough, he can still be racist if he's half white, can't he?

Well maybe it's the police that are racist because they let the guy go, huh? I bet they patted him on the back and congratulated him for getting rid of another nigger for 'em?

If as ruksac suggests their are witnesses that Travon did physically attack Zimmerman deadly force as I understand in their state is warranted. One cannot just say that because a person has what is perceived to be a more deadly weapon they are under obligation not to use it because "it's not fair to the one who attacks them". It's not fair for the victims of attacks of any kind to be forced not to use weapons that will ensure they will defend the attackers blows, just because some people think they have too much advantage.

If Travon did in fact attack, and also did in fact know that Zimmerman had a deadly weapon, wouldn't that be like a person knowing there is a warning sign "huge 5000 foot drop ahead" and deciding to just walk into the pit anyways? If he saw the gun why didn't he walk away or call for help? It's possible because I wasn't there, that Travon did think he had no way out, but if he was so scared of the gun or Zimmerman why attack? Again, there seems to be too much shadow of doubt in this case for a conviction.

They wouldn't do that, would they?

First Trayvon was an unarmed kid that was shot on sight....then we find out that he's the assailant.

Yesterday a right-leaning website called Twitchy ran a picture of George Zimmerman in a suit and tie next to what they claimed was a picture of Trayvon Martin with no shirt and sagging pants. Twitchy is owned and operated by Michelle Malkin, a conservative pundit who is a frequent guest on Fox News. The picture of Zimmerman was real, but the picture of Martin was not. After Eric Boehlert, senior fellow at the left-leaning organization Media Matters, tweeted a screenshot of the article Twitchy posted the following correction:

“Correction, 8:56 pm ET March 25, 2012: We made a mistake. The photo on the right is not of the Trayvon Martin who was shot by Zimmerman. We apologize to our readers and to the Martin family.”

I've seen a startlingly long string of posts making accusations against Trayvon Martin (bringing drugs to school, having facial hair, wearing plaid boxers[which, by the way, is not even a picture of him]) and I have seen no links to back up these allegations, though I am familiar with some of the pictures from Pat Dollard's website. The two pictures of Trayvon's face side by side aren't very telling; he looks exactly the same. They could have been taken a day apart. I doubt he could even grow facial hair.

I watched 30 minutes of HLN as they tripped over themselves trying to find reasons to discuss this matter every 3 minutes.

It seems like these intrepid bearers of the truth have finally come to report, at least incidentally through commentary, that there are "some reports that Trayvon approached Zimmerman". Will wonders never cease!

They did let out that "little" Trayvon stood 6 feet tall compared to Zimmerman's 5 foot 9. Tryvon weighed 160 and Zimmerman was unknown.

Of course, they could ask Zimmerman, but he and his family are in seclusion due to the Bounty placed on his head by fair-minded citizens.

It seems HLN will save reporting on the eye witness who stated Tryavon had Zimmerman pinned to the ground and was hitting him prior to the shooting until after the lynching.

I do n't see why it even matters what he looked like, if he did attack Zimmerman he got shot with deadly force legally and morally there is no defense for Trayvon if this is so. Stand your ground was meant for punks who bully other people, so if Trayvon was one of those punks then he is exactly who the law was made for. Perhaps the parents are just in denial.
