Next week Baltimore won't have Jacobi Jones to give them the extra boost that they need to win.

Next week Baltimore won't have Jacobi Jones to give them the extra boost that they need to win.

But next year is another matter. The rumors abound from some people who are in the know. It seems that there is some thought being given to putting up several million dollars to pick up Jones' contract next year. The Texans gave up 14 points because of two mistakes, one mistake by a rookie, the other by a 5 year veteran. The talk is that the 5 year veteran made a mistake that not even a high school freshman makes and that he will be playing somewhere else next year. He might even be playing for the Ravens.

As a die-hard Steeler fan I really want to see the Ravens lose this weekend or the next. The thought of the dirty-birds as SB Champions makes me want to puke.

Too bad they can't both lose the game. I dislike them both intensely.

I live in Indianapolis so you can imagine what the folks here feel about either of those AFC teams winning a SB on our home turf.
The pulse here in Indy is a divide between Jim Harbaugh's (our former 'Captain Comeback') Niners and Peyton's lil bro Eli's Giants winning it.
Interestingly, all 4 teams have some serious history with Indianapolis.
Harbaugh being our former QB. The only successful Indy QB aside from Manning.
Giants QB being a Manning, a family that is beloved here.
Patriots whom have been our nemesis in what has been by far the most intriguing rivalry of the 21st century.
....and of course Baltimore. We took their horseshoe.

Both playoff games were great fun to watch. Brady's worse than usual effort was compensated by a good Patriot rushing game and solid defense. They also kept unforced errors to a minimum, which can't be said of the Ravens. The Raven's QB got hot as the game unfolded. The game went down to the last few seconds. If Baltimore had a field goal kicker capable of placing the ball between two goal posts from 32 yards away, they would be AFC champs tonight. Did anyone wonder why the Raven's coach called a run play on 3rd and 8 in the Raven's zone with just minutes left in the game?
The 49ers gave away their trip to Indy tonight. Kyle Williams fumbled not one but two punt returns. The first was less a fumble than a brief touch of the football on his thigh, which amounts to a fumble. The replay overturned the downed ball ruling on the field and the Giants ended up scoring 3 points. The second fumble happened in OT when Williams caught the ball on the 49er 20 yard line and decided to one arm the ball for what he had hoped to be a long punt runback. The ball was easily stripped and the Giants kicked the winning field goal some minutes later. It wasn't all Williams' fault. The 49ers barely had one 3rd down conversion all game. But Williams will be the goat, and probably an ex 49er in the not-too-distant future.
So the Super Bowl in Indy will be a rematch between the Patriots and the Giants. If that game has anywhere near the drama of the two championship contests today, it should be memorable.

Anybody been keeping an eye on what Bill Belicheat has been pointing his video cameras at this season??
I upped my income, up yours.

I want to go on record here in regard to Tim Tebow.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just sayin........ That dude is fucking more queer than a $3 bill. Total closet homosexual. To this end;
Consider this;
In the 91 year history of the NFL, there have only been 2 players to come out as gay, and 1 that has been outed post mortem by a lover.
1975
David Kopay, an NFL running back who played for five teams (San Francisco, Detroit, Washington, New Orleans, Green Bay) between 1964-72, becomes the first professional team-sport athlete to come out -- doing so three years after retiring. He admits his homosexuality during an interview with the now-defunct Washington Star.
1987
Jerry Smith, a tight end with the Washington Redskins from 1965-77, dies of AIDS complications. Smith never acknowledged that he was gay, but in David Kopay's autobiography, Smith was described as his first love.
1992
Roy Simmons, an offensive guard for the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins from 1979-83, reveals he is gay during an appearance on The Phil Donahue Show.
91 years, an estimated 75,000 men and only three gay men. Thats 1 out of every 25,000. This is stark contrast to typical demographics.
Regarding the issue of a strange lack of homosexuals in professional sport, in this case the NFL, WHY?
How is this possible? Why is this the way it is?

ruksak,
Football isn't a sport I keep up with, but I'm pretty sure a new thread for the topic you want to discuss should be created.

Very true. I hesitated to post this here. Sorta off the cuff mentioning. I'll construct a more thoughtful presentation regarding homosexuality and sports later tonight when I have more time to do so properly. Any suggestions of the proper forum? General or Sports?
Also, considering this thread is no longer in any way relevant as the subject has expired, perhaps closing it would be best.
Thanks MJ
