Why Volconvo and other debate forums are needed.

A "friend" of mine on Facebook just posted this:

I'm baaaaaaaaack! I was banned from FB for 24 hours because SeaWorld doesn't like people posting some cold hard facts on their Wall, preferring instead to have everyone think SeaWorld is a happy little place for happy little marine mammals who just love being kept in tiny pools and forced to perform for gawping humans so SeaWolrd can pull big profits. I guess with all the lawsuits and orca attacks they're a tad tetchy when it comes to criticism. I'm sure they're fully aware that although they can delete comments from their FB Wall and report and ban FB members, they can't silence the growing number of organizations and individuals out there on the streets educating people against the evils of marine parks. I'm assuming I'm allowed to say this on *my* Wall...or am I to disappear again?
Facebook has its purpose and value, but it's not a place for open debate and honest inquiry. For that, sites like Volconvo and similar forums are necessary.

You know what I was thinking? Why not have a debate brainary of sixteen top debators that debate for all the public and world leaders to see? Representing the world, four should come from north america, four from europe, two from south america, two from africa, two from asia and two from australia. This represents the education levels of typical people of those continents, making sure that nothing is ignored.

They could earn a contract and be paid depending on what they bring to the fore? The people and rulers could consult them as they dig all day for a wage once contracted, replacing their jobs with this undertaking. This will allow them to focus on this 'job' all day. Then the public and rulers could have sort of like a blended media/public aspect/decision making team that could help out.

People could phone from their continenets and vote for their representative, who may not be aligned with any party to avoid mismanagement. These will be independants thriving to help sort things out , fairly and not with any policies holding them back. Free advisors to the people and rulers. You could say this is like bloggers, but they could devote their time to making sure they know about everything, instead of just trying to entertain with the latest fad. Of course the people could be shown on the internet as to all their posts and debates, and will be free of the mass marketing bug that 'entertainers' catch.

    Who likes that idea?

It's already being done. The debaters are called news commentators. Talking heads. Ted Rall, Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, Bill O'Reilly, etc. Just look in any paper at the editorial/opinion page and you can see the debates.

Go to Drudge Reports and at the bottom are many, many debating positions by these debaters.

Plus, many people are more open about their views when they are anonymous.

Unfortunately, most people prefer their entertainment over educating themselves. Hey did you hear that Kim Kardashian filed for divorce after 72 days of marriage and making 17 million for broadcasting her wedding? Gee I wish that were me, can't wait for the next episode to find out why she got divorced...

Thankfully, there are few in this group (Volconvoites) who believe Kim Kardashian is especially important. There's nothing wrong with kicking your shoes off and being entertained for a little while, but that shouldn't occupy so much of one's time. That's a judgment call, I know, but there it is.

Gee you mean it didn't rock your world that Kim is getting a divorce? I thought half the world would be in mourning and shock at the thought?

Who's Kim Kardashian? I guess I need to get out more...

Does anybody else pick up a random People magazine in a dentist office for instance and only recognize about 1 in 20 people pictured in the mag?

I sort of do, but with one exception: make all the debaters Leftist Democrats. They're clearly the brightest, most witty and educated people to ever grace this planet.
