that's right up there with jerry falwell saying that we had 9/11 because of gays and lesbians.

Tinybear, I totally agree. I think that's sickening. We've had local people going around knocking on doors making bogus collections and pocketing the funds for themselves!
It seems like countries are vying for attention... whoever bids highest gets the most respect and praise.
Even the Scientologists are cashing in on the opportunity for publicity, as can be seen here in this image...
They send them over in their distinctive yellow tops and they help people whilst recruiting them to the faith at the same time!
I like Scientology, but I hate to see religions (or anyone) taking advantage of desperate people!

Did anyone hear this (paraphrased) comment that an individual made concerning the Tsunami and God:
'The people who survived the Tsunami had faith in God, those who didnt survive did not have enough faith'
I hope no one else shares this mentality
sorry for double post: computer errored

The people who survived the Tsunami had faith in God, those who didnt survive did not have enough faith'
I have one word to describe this : hogwash
Oddly enough, lots of people believe that only those who believe in God get to enter heaven and those who do not, however kind they maybe, would be denied entry.

And that's more hogwash! I have to say I don't know about Heaven, Hell or Earth... I mean, an eternity spent *anywhere* is a damn long time... none of them seem like a good idea if you have to spend forever there.

As horrible and upsetting as it all is i believe it was nature's way of keeping the population down!!
Live and love for today! There may be no tomorrow!
hmm
"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." population growth out of control will eventually kill us all- painful and terrible for everyone involved though it is, perhaps this was what they call a necessary evil?
"Nature finds a way"
Just a couple of quotes that come to mind. The answer entirely depends on your standpoint with God. If God indeed gave man free will then perhaps he gave a similar rite to the planet/ universe he placed them on/in.
Do you feel you should think of him as governed by the Prime Directive from star trek... ie not to interfere with a primitive race (which i would suggest we are). If God had got involved it would have been obvious and may have caused the mass panic on a planetary scale.
I agree that you should see the good in the bad. What this has proven is that in times of need almost the whole planet can come together in support for those that need it. Yes some individuals will have a private agenda- they're human after all and not infallible, but that is minimla in comparison to the many that give freely without reward with exception of feeling good for having tried to help in some small way. Millions of small ways have mounted to millions of pounds being donated. 100 Million from the UK alone. A tiny country in comparison to some others.
God was there of course. In whatever from he/it takes. not interfering in any way but simply being... as he/it has always been. A source of strength for those alive to draw on when they most need it. and a source for many others to return to at their sad passing.

Here's my question: If you pass by the kiddies' swimming pool and witness an infant drowning in 3 feet of water, would you interfere and save the infant? If you don't have you committed a sin?

The UK is a small country but a rich one, especially with being so small. I'm not a patriot or any of that crap... I have no more allegiance to this country than the next. It infuriates me when the news keeps reporting, "nearly 150 million confirmed dead, and EVEN WORSE, 100 of them were Britons!" like it is somehow more relevent that they were British. A life is a life.
Sorry. Not entirely relelvent, but had to say it! Thank you, I'm going now...

I'm sorry you hear you feel no particular affinity (let alone loyalty) to your country, but you owe allegiance to it. That's the law.

By the way, is no one going to answer my question?
