If one person views the same thread twice, does it count two new views for that thread?
Or are the views counted as unique, in that each individual can only add to a thread's view count once?

I'm not really sure. If it's click-related and not IP related then each click would count. I've never been asked that one before. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

Hmm... I think it's IP-unique.
I tried clicking on the Gay Marriage thread and then back to Society & Rights a couple times, and the number of views did not change.
Which... Is pretty cool, because that means over 500,000 different people (or at least computers) have viewed that thread alone.

You might be right. Threads could be different from profile pages. You can check the Vbulletin website for a thread on the topic or query them.

I suspect it's a combination of both - it'll be based on cookies, and as these expire quite regularly, the "views" figure will be higher than the uniques.
