    Glenn Beck

More and more, I am beginning to think it's true that Glenn Beck is simply a real-life troll. His statements are becoming more and more outrageous. When he connected Robert Greenwald to Che Guerva, compared U.S. progressives to Mao, and most recently when he said that the Japan earthquakes are a message from God. I shit you not:

Glenn Beck Say Earthquake In Japan Is A ‘Message’ From God, Because The 10 Commandments Aren’t Followed |

Glenn Beck says Japan‘s earthquake might be a “message” from God.
“We can’t see the connections here,” he said on his show Monday. “I’m not saying God is causing earthquakes – well I’m not not saying that either!”
“What God does is God’s business,” Beck continued. “But I’ll tell you this…there’s a message being sent. And that is, ‘Hey you know that stuff we’re doing? Not really working out real well. Maybe we should stop doing some of it.’ I’m just saying.”
Beck continued trying to make a connection between human behavior and the natural disasters that have wreaked havoc in Japan, even casually mentioning “radical Islam” before revealing what he called “the answer.”
“The answer is, buckle up!” he said. “Because it’s going to be a bumpy ride.”
In light of the disasters that have devastated Japan, the Fox host stressed people should follow the biblical Ten Commandments, or what he referred to as “10 rules of thumb.”
“What do you say we start doing those things?” he asked. “Because the things we are doing really suck. And they’re not getting better.
His quote from Forbes magazine pretty much puts the nail in the coffin: "We don't give a crap about politics, it's all about the money", or something to that extent.

"The tradition of all dead generations weighs like a nightmare on the brains of the living. And just as they seem to be occupied with revolutionizing themselves and things, creating something that did not exist before, precisely in such epochs of revolutionary crisis they anxiously conjure up the spirits of the past to their service, borrowing from them names, battle slogans, and costumes in order to present this new scene in world history in time-honored disguise and borrowed language."

Well, if his real goal is to make conservatives look like loony-bin nutcases, he's doing nearly as good a job as Rush Limbaugh and Alex Jones.

Glenn Beck lost about a million viewers recently. He is getting old. Something like a quarter of those who watched him were democrats or moderates, meaning an even greater number than a quarter just watched him because he is entertaining.

His most recent book ended a long line of consecutive New York Times best sellers.

"The day we stop exploring is the day we commit ourselves to live in a stagnant world, devoid of curiosity, empty of dreams."

Yet so many people I talk to actually take him and Limbaugh seriously. Despite all of the bias that Fox News has been blamed for, they still watch it, and believe it to be totally true.

Yeah, a majority of the people who watch him probably take him seriously, i'm just pointing out that a substantial minority don't.

The hardliner conservatives (Rmnuez and Trojan seem moderate) on these forums are presently on hiatus or limiting themselves to debate about religion, so i'm not sure your going get anyone here to defend fox news or Beck's Pat Robertson moment.

    Beck's Pat Robertson moment
That was my first thought when I heard of this, the torch has passed.

If American conservatives actually followed the 10 Commandments, I'd love them.

But American "Christians", the Evangelicals, are about as far removed from Jesus Christ's teachings as I am. Even more, actually.

Jesus Christ was the first Marx, really. His teachings are the very definition of socialism. But Evangelicals seem to be corporate capitalists. Everything to the CEO, **** the poor.

    It's pathetic.

So, yeah... I wish they would follow the 10 commandments. It would make things better.

There's a matching but unfortunately smaller American Christian left movement. I almost always get along with them.

Oh, and Glenn Beck's not a troll. He's just degenerating into total insanity. It happens...
