(To All) I recommend this site to get some perspective on your position on the economic (Captalism/Socialism) and social (Authoritarian/Libertarian) dimensions of political relative to feasible extremes and international norms of designation.:

    http://www.PoliticalCompass.org

My "position" is about -4, -8.21 (why are my qualities negative values - rhetorical), so I'm just a bit Libertarian-Rt of the Dali Lama and the Greens, but if they had an axis for biopolitics (Bioluddite-Transhumanist) I would differ with many Greens. Bush II's politics edge damn close to Fascism (I'm very civil libertarian, but not an Anarchist as I recognize a need for political authority to protect the weak and serve justice).

See this paper for an intro to the concept of a biopolitical dimension by Libertarian-Lft Transhumanist James Hughes (a Sociologist from U of Chicago, who knew?):

It is definately time to get a new party in there. Doing that will make them work harder to get other chances and make the others do more for us to get back in. Check out www.ReformPartyUSA-ag.org

Republicans and Democrats are the same party. They argue over petty things but at the end of the day they're both all about bigger government and fewer freedoms. The Gore Tax, Medicare, Americorps - these are all typically liberal taxes/issues/organizations that the Republicans have co-opted. But not to worry, the Democrats are just as bad, taking in Republican ideology as it best fits them. Regardless, both parties are fast heading toward the Authoritarian section of the political landscape. That's why I vote Libertarian. Wanna talk about a wasted vote? It's a wasted vote when you vote for Republicans and Democrats, because they promise nothing but business as usual.

I have to agree. Both parties move in the same direction. Their only difference is in rhetoric. Dumbocrats use a language that appeals to socialists. Repugnicans use a language that appeals to conservatives. Both work for more power, i.e., bigger government, less individual freedom. Both are traitors to the principles underlying the Constitution, to which they swear allegiance when they take office.

In a weird, twisted way, the Dumbocrats are more "trustworthy." They say they want bigger government, and they state their reason: to make things more "fair" for the underdogs - and "stick it" to the "overdogs". They then proceed to do exactly that.

Repugnicans lie in that they claim to be for smaller government, more individual rghts, liberty, and freedom - but they do the exact opposite. Their poilies and strategies always result in a loss of freedom and bigger government. The worst of all in that regard is the current George Bush and his neocon administration.

Thus, a vote for Dumbocrats is not "wasted" - you get what you vote for. A vote for Repugnicans, however, IS wated, because true conservatives always get shafted. Maybe that's why sodomy is becoming such an accepted practice.

Sorry, but I can't vote, because you limit the choices. I work for Democratic candidates, contribute to Democratic candidates, and vote Democratic -- never ever Republican. But trust one of the two dominant American political parties? Come on, what other bridges do you have to sell us?

I would argue that a Dumbocrat vote is wasted as well. This is supposedly the party of civil liberties, but that has long since been abandoned. This is supposedly the anti-war party, but they allowed war by refusing to call for quorum when congress passed the responsibility off to the president. These guys lie about their adherence to the ideology just as much as the Reps. It's ironic that the Democratic Party was the party of Thomas Jefferson, who was the most Libertarian out of any of the founding fathers.

I choose Republicans as the lesser of the two evils, but I must admit it was a tough call. I believe both parties are interested in curtailing liberty in the interest of imposing their narrowminded ideology on everyone. I'm a Libertarian for several reasons.

Dispicable Republican ideas include: Religious authoritarianism, wasteful, oppresive and destructive drug war. Lying that they are in favor of of smaller government when in reality they always increase it's size. Corporate welfare. Further homoginization of the American public through things like the "No Child Left Behind" bullshit.

Dispicable Democratic ideas include: Frivolous law suits that drive up the cost of virtually everything. Excessive taxation. Whining about environmental problems that often don't exist. Overtly supporting large government. Anti-gun legislation.

I can't believe Democrats claim to be the champions of the poor and downtrodden. I'm fairly poor and it seems to me that only the rich can afford to be liberal. In my state (Washington) the Democrats are putting forth ANOTHER hike in our sales tax so we can pour more money down the education drain as if throwing more money at the problem will do anything. Last year they passed ANOTHER gas tax which hits a poor person like me very hard but is pretty much unnoticable to a rich person. All the while they stomp for more regulation and taxation of business so my employer won't be thinking of giving me (an hourly wage worker) a raise anytime soon as long as he's worrying about paying the raise Uncle Sam is forcing on him.

"Any man willing to trade freedom for security deserves neither." -Benjamin Franklin

I couldn't vote for either one as I trust neither (or should I say it because there ain't a whole hell of a lot of difference).

I trust no party who wants more of my freedom.
