The human need to beleve in a higher power or some higher force

I think people need to think for themselves and not always say, it must of been god or there's some scientific explanation for that. just because you can't explain something. It is ridiculous and total nonsense to perceive those as an appropriate explanation. Instead of simply justifying an action or event that seems unexplainable, look for the answers instead of taking the easy way out. I can sit here all day long and say that something occurred through the power of some god or mysterious force, whether it be scientific or religious. And you might think, hey, your an agnostic, so you don't look for answer or anything for that matter. Untrue, I am constantly looking for answers, I just haven't found any answers that make sense to me. And till i do, i will remain an agnostic-

I have long held that religion is an emotional response of finite creatures to an apparently infinite universe. I think Robert Browning captured it exactly. To paraphrase only slightly, man's reach does exceed his grasp, which is what heaven is for. Man must create his gods to manage that which is beyond his grasp.

Perhaps one day mankind will emerge from our fear of the dark, but until then we will continued to carry the burden of theology.

Human's don't 'need' to believe in a higher power. We're built for it, hard-wired by evolution to believe in such, as a socially bonding and personally calming survival instinct.

Actually, I very much do believe humans need something to stand for, something which gives them a purpose and something to explain and rationalize how things happen, why things happen and why they exist. Okay, let me break it down for you. Since the beginning, man has always developed some kind of god or someone, something to worship. Whether that be the Sun God, Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha or some Cult Leader/Prophet, you get the drift. So, what I am trying to say is that the mind has to fabricate this delusion, fairy-tale concept in order to deal, understand and interpret all the mysteries, itself could never explain. So the mind creates something that needs no evidence, like a god, in most cases. In order to try to explain the complexity of all the questions the mind has but can never fully explain, these supreme beings or higher powers are critical and important to answer, explain and maintain the mind. I think, for the most part, people would go mental without something to believe in or lean on in hard times. Of course you can say, well, there's lots of Atheist and Agnostics. True, I am an Agnostic, but compared to Religion, we are flys on a wall.
