I just have no reason to believe a business is no longer selling something they could be selling, seems like bad business to me.
then you really need to open your eyes to what is going on in the food industry. the distributors have the market in their pocket. it is not consumer driven but distributor controlled.
the facts are there and are in the article . if you need to ignore it in order to keep faith with your ideals then again we see another instance of theory being put ahead of reality.

the idea of self regulation is not a new one .
    here we have the FDANZ.
I am a proponent of self regulation, or self-management. And, of course, if an organization presents problems for others, those people would have to organize to express their interests as well. This is all pretty elementary, I think.

I'm amazed if anyone says your conclusion is wrong. Companies monopolize until they can afford cheap prices which, of course, lure customers who quest to save some money. That's Capitalism 101, and the monopolies practically own the business cycle. That's one reason their is a turbulent "cycle" in the first place. They make many of the rules themselves. Even OSHA regulations aren't very well enforced, and probably couldn't be. You know, the government is not omniscient in any case.

I'll tell you what I hate. When I try to open a Barbie doll or a toy for my kids, I have to cut through rediculous layers of packaging to get to them. Barbie is one of the worst, her arms , waist, kneck and legs are usually held in place with plastic ties, her hair is often sewn to the box, her accessories are in molded plastic all so she can look good in the box. Is it just me or has any one ever heard of burning waste? I realize it isn't safe to burn all products but really, who actually thought throwing tons of waste into a pit of dirt would really decompose efficiently?

I find it highly ironic that SoylentGreen is talking about wasted food...

its more likely to discourage shoplifting/kids opening them and playing with them in the store

well you're right, better to destroy all the natural resources so walmart doesn''t have to file an insurance claim on barbie. Give me break barbie can have security measures without all the razzmatazz, the packaging is for selling purposes mostly not so much the security.
