I think the proof of immortality you might be looking for is something you can look up - google "quantum immortality".

Essentially, if the many-worlds interpretation (or at least one version of it) is true, then all conscious entities are immortal, because there are always quantum potentials of experience (i.e., alternate realities) where the consciousness survives, no matter how unlikely.

All the immortals I know keep dying. How does that work?
Its like the author who put his book exposing the antichrist on sale because the one he exposed died.

I refer to them as "my points" for the sake of convenience. It wouldn't make much sense to refer to them as "the chemical ideas generated by my brain" every time. Stop dancing around the topic. You still haven't contested my points, even though you try to make them look stupid with this sarcasm.

Are you dumb? First you say there no "your points", your brain types them, then you say there are your points

Please decide are these your points and you type them by your will, or is it your brain what types them

Did you even read my post? I said I call them "my points" for the sake of convenience. It would make communication a lot more difficult if I had to refer to them as "the chemical ideas that my brain has created". I still believe that they are simply chemical reactions with in my brain.

I think what La7 is getting at is that there is no free will (based on how Tycoon described our mental processes). While that point may not have been illustrated clearly enough, this is still a very bad argument.

If we have no free will, how does that make it acceptable to ignore someone's opinion? Merely because someone's opinion was causally determined doesn't make it invalid, nor does it support any argument that anyone is immortal.

If you have no free will, then ignoring someone is no more "unacceptable" than not ignoring them, because both are exactly the same thing - the inevitable consequence of physics.

If there is no free will, then all "arguments" are in effect nothing more or less than the sound of leaves rustling as the wind blows through them, each leaf making whatever noise physics demands.

While causal determination may not render all arguments invalid, it does render one's capacity to ascertain the validity thereof impossible (since one will think of the argument whatever physics decrees, whether crazy or correct).

Arguing that free will doesn't exist is like arguing that arguing doesn't exist. Without free will, there's no such thing as an actual meaningful argument. If there is no free will, there's no reason for you to argue, or to believe your argument, other than physics makes you do so.

Which is exactly the same reason anyone else believes anything, if there is no free will and events are causally determined.

Who types it? Does your brain type it or do you type it?

I'm assuming his fingers type it. Now, can we get on with the debate please?

In the quantum immortality argument (which is a necessary outcome of a certain interpretation of quantum physics) others may die from one's perspective, but a conscious entity can never experience their own death.

Yes, sure. Do his fingers type it or he thinks it and types it because he thinks so?

Because otherwise it was produced by his brain and his brain typed it and then there is no point to discuss his opinions because they aren't his opinions

Now, if he types it because he thinks so, what types it?

In order you move your hand, your brain must receive an order about it. That means your brain must interact with something. What is that stuff ?
That "stuff" is electricity, passed down from the brain, via the nerves, to the fingers. Nothing mystical in the slightest. Do you know anything about biology?

Is it electricity opinion or do you think so and act upon your will - type it?
