    Fred Thompson is in!

I'm sad to see that he is so low in the poll attached to this forum. As a conservative republican, I've been very disappointed with our choices thus far. But, now that Fred is in, I'm pleased and hope he is able to do well and defeat the host of rinos that lead the pack.

I have yet to see one thing this guy brings to the table that the other candidates don't, so maybe you can tell us, what is it that fires people up about this guy?

Fred is an obvious puppet for the establishment, rather lazy, and not too bright.

What on earth does Fred Thompson have to offer, except more of the same?

The only reason Thompson waited this long, is because he has no skill or presentation for debate, he knows he will be grilled, and wanted to avoid washing out so early in the race.

Maybe FT should run against the guy who played the President in the TV role in the West Wing Series. He may be able to win there but I doubt it.

everything about this guy right now is hype, and nothing more. thompson hasn't said anything truly substantive and has focused on chiming out some hollow notes to get the demoralized pro-war republicans excited.

as far as him being a "conservative" goes.... the guy is part of the washington establishment. that means he supports deficit spending, big government, and empire.

the only true conservative of the group remains ron paul, based entirely where it counts - his record.

    hope for america...

This is the guy from Law & Order right?

You know what this tells me?

The Republicans blew a big hole in the side of their heads with Bush and his Public Speech blunders and failures to relate to his audience, so now they need someone with acting skills who can present their plans and crap better then he did.

And if they pick someone from a show such as Law & Order and someone who played the character he did, most ill-informed people would vote for him based on his history in the TV show and being a Good guy.

Right now the Republicans know they got a big battle ahead of themselves if they really want to lead the country next time, what with Clinton and Osama Obama... everyone running now for them really haven't sparked much interest in the collective of the US, so they throw in an actor everybody knows.

Ca'mon people..... It's just sooooo obvious.

    Added:

As Bishop said, I don't see anything special about him, except for the above ploy.

What a line up the Republican got.

    A former actor.
A former mayor (& wife cheater)
    A Control Freak.
    A Radical that supports a 3rd party.
    A Fat Cat former bussinessman.
A Vet that is not hep.

    That spells "loosers".

i wouldn't be surprised if more republican voters followed law & order over current events.

Fred's a nice fellow, and his conservative credentials are impeccable. That BTW is what he brings to the table, an impeccable conservative record.

While he's a nice fellow and I like his politics I don't think he is a credable candidate and I will not support him. He is too old and too ill. I doubt that he'd survive a year in office.

Republicans will vote for security. They believe and rightly so, at least in my mind, that the Democrats are soft on security. Furthermore Hillary and others seem to be very wishy washy when it comes to national security, and the leading Democrats are talking out of two sides of their mouths. On the one had thay say they want us to pull out (redeploy) from Iraq and then on the other hand they want to have GI's stay in the country.

What do they really mean? Can we trust a Democrat to speak clearly and explain what they'll do as president, w/t national security? I don't think so.

That's why Repubs will vote for the Repub candidate. Keeping the tax cuts in place and avoiding national health care are two other reasons that many will vote conservative in the next election. I think that the Libs will be surprised how many conservatives are out there, many of them BTW are Democrats.

Don't even think of wife cheaters when there's a Clinton in the room.

Hmmm, I thought Ron Paul's voting record was also completely in line with conservative values.

I just heard Fred on the TV informing us about the situation in Iraq.

What the Hell does he know about that two days into his campaign.

Just like I suspected, a lot of hot air, and suggestions that mirror Bush's.
