"Make Welfare as hard to get as a building permit" -Bumper sticker.

I think its backwards, make a build permit as easy as getting welfare. Right now, I'm on a construction crew, and guess what, I aint working, except at Greers, 12 hrs/week, 5.15/hr, and everyone else on the crew, guys who have kids to feed are forced to be on welfare. Why? Because the local officials that issue building permits are a f*cking month behind and we cant start any of the houses the company has contracts for until they clear the f*cking permits. And all the other companies in the area have the same problem. Now, if Building permits were as easy to get as welfare, none of us would be on welfare, and I wouldnt be tempted (fortunately, I have the option of living with my mom, until I go to college in august on a scholarship). We are talking about the other guys on the crew who dont have the options that I do.

Conclusion: Make it as easy to get on a job as it is to get welfare, and fewer people would need it. Make it as hard to get welfare as it is to get on a job, and fewer people would be alive.

    Anybody wanna comment?

Of course, building permits are a necessity, but government has long ago forgotten the meaning of a light touch when it comes to regulation. Like the EPA forcing the city of Camden N.J. to test its water supply for pesticides used in pineapple qrowing.

I think my bumper sticker beats yours. "U.S. Government Philosophy: if it ain't broke, fix it till it is".
