Mr. V worry about yourself, and stop being so offended by the liberal perspective here. We all have our opinions, and despite your feeling that everyone except you is liberal here, the forum seems to be pretty balanced.

The user base is doing fine :) I haven't advertised once since winter, and we've got about 100 new members.

While I disagree with Mr. V's chosen way to express himself, I was also going to request that one thread be left for memorial only and people could start as many negative ones they wanted.

There is such a thing as respect for the recently departed and I have to agree with V that it displays a lack of basic tact, couth, and decorum to refuse to allow that respect to be paid.

Mia, the site subtitles itself as "heated debate." Now, I will grant that there have been topics posted which offer little to debate. "Ronald Reagan RIP" isn't a non-controversial subject. To restrict the comments to respectful ones is to restrict the purpose of the website. If all we want is honey, we can get that from Safeway. I like argument; Sean says we won't be banned for our opinions. I was not rude to the members, just opinionated about Reagan. This is not his funeral service. It's debate. No one has refused to allow the offers of respect. I and others have just disagreed it is due.

Right - I didn't say 100 topics to be debated shouldn't have been posted, if that's what was wanted. Not all threads are posted for debate, even though that's the name of the website.

Mutual agreement to hold one thread as a memorial is not restricting debate.

It was just my opinion anyway. I didn't try to make it happen ;-)

If Mr Vicc didn't want to have a debate he wouldn't have posted the thread in Issues > Gov't & Politics. Or maybe he was so full of grieve he wasn't thinking straight.

Good point. It should have been in a different category with a polite request for the thread to remain a memorial only, and for any debate to be in it's own thread.

A "moderator" moved my disgust at that utter lack of... civility shown on this forum for a simple Reagan RIP thread.

I really don't care. This is about what I have come to expect around here. Start a thread about how evil Bush is, use any sort of language, its "free speech"

Get angry that people turn a respect for the dead thread into a bash thread and you get this treatment.
