I suggest you move somewhere else. Ohio always seemed like a shitfuck of a place to me anyway. How about New Hampshire?
    I say:
Well New Hampshire and Montana are my first two choices, and are actually in the plans when I can. I am staying in Ohio for family reasons right now, but in the near future I see myself moving ASAP.

I personally think, after watching car markets and prices over the years, now is the time to open a car manufacturing business, as in we build what you want, any design, drivetrain, frame, parts, you name it, we build it.

The aftermarket would support it in parts, and the demand is huge, but there is a lot of design and labor work, and this would require a group of dedicated people willing to take equal risk.

That market is also getting much more crowded as of late, which is why I would like to get more into renewable energy engines, coupled with high performance. (Turbocharged Eco-Diesel, preferably hemp fueled.)
I heard about grassoline, I thought that was from lawn shavings.

Industrial hemp should be legalized....dont see it happening soon though.

I wish I could get involved in some alternative fuel industry in some capacity

If they would only legalize industrial hemp and medical and recreational marijuana, I would go into business in a heartbeat, at my own expense, and be successful, and improve society through new technology and reduced dependence on fossile fuels and foreign powers.

Osborn did you ever consider being a NASCAR mechanic?

it does seem that you ought to give self-employment a shot.. and in order to do that, you need to move to a place where people like to spend money - and ohio definitely ain't that. i've only been to dayton, but from that little glimpse, ohio was akin to the end of the world compared to any other american spot i've visited (the bronx is too, but urban)..

if you were to move over to NH, people absolutely love to visit the white mountains.. and, people in new england go crazy over handcrafted goods and antiques, trinkets and all sorts of other useless nicknacks.. of course, it's all in the eyes of the consumer - and there's definitely a market for the stuff here, plus northeasterners (especially people who live in MA) are known for being affluent and like to spend money. you'll just have to suck it up and get a machine that can scan credit/debit cards because people don't pay for stuff with cash.

if not that, then you could get a hiking/camping thing together - guided tours done by crazy survivalist - osborn "john rambo" enready.. heh.

you'd have a lot more options if you weren't a political radical, but that's your choice of course.

    hope for america...

    I say:
Thought about it, but realized how much I would hate it.

I can't even respect Nascar since they stopped racing "stockcars".

Thanks, I am thinking along those lines too. All good points, and fairly spot on, about Ohio.

People will deal with cash if they want their goods enough, and value the service.

Funny or not, the thought has crossed my mind.

Thats what they told Adams, Washington and Paine also.

Perhaps I could build the business around just that.....

if you could pull it off, operating as a cash-only business, i'll be extremely amazed and impressed.. operating as cash-only drastically limits the amount of business you can generate, and small businesses do need lots of business since the margins are very tight. you'd completely eliminate online sales, and would have to rely on the chance that customers come with cash on hand. most people i know only use their cards.

i'd consider the efficacy of your cash-only approach. the reality is that it would significantly increase the potential that the business would fail. (then, you could be in worse financial shape than you were beforehand.)

    hope for america...

Service Adviser at a car dealership - though they may drug test, I don't know.
