I counted no less than thirty eight members who have joined within the last 24 hours. And, not to be too elitist about this, most of them really aren't up to the usual Volconvic standard. What gives?

New members are bad? I suppose many people have been doing political searches in the past couple days, which brings them to this site.
We have a "usual standard"?most of them really aren't up to the usual Volconvic standard

Well, the forums are now running with the best forum software available with the best optimization software available, so perhaps that's starting to have an effect with the search engines.
Well, I know this really shouldn't matter, but my GOD some of them can't spell for shit. Forums with posts like that piss me off.
I doubt we'll see any of them again. I'm convinced this is all some evil scheme of Jason's.
Slightly better software causes thirty eight members to ALL join within the space of twelve hours, for them ALL to make only one post, for ALL these posts to be within three hours of each other and for NOBODY else to join after about 5pm today? I don't buy it.

I never mentioned anything about posts under false usernames. Interesting that you should be so eager to quash that idea...
The evil scheme comment was flippancy. I wasn't seriously suggesting that you were doing anything untoward. I just think it's ridiculous for you to attribute such a staggering set of coincidences to improved software.
Search engine optimization software that I installed in early August began working about a week ago. Since then, Google has indexed 1200 optimized pages. This happens to coincide with the week of the midterms, which understandably is spurring many searches on politics and debate. It is, therefore, quite probable that the conditions were right.
