Senate Version Of National Right-To-Carry Bill Introduced

    Friday, June 02, 2006

U.S. Senator George Allen (R-Va.) recently introduced S. 3275--the Senate version of H.R. 4547, a national Right-to-Carry (RTC) reciprocity bill that would provide national reciprocity for state carry licensees. This legislation would allow any person with a valid carry permit or license issued by a state to carry a concealed firearm in any other state if they meet certain criteria. The bill would not create a federal licensing system; it would simply require the states to recognize each other’s carry permits, just as they recognize drivers’ licenses.

Please be sure to contact your U.S. Senators at (202) 224-3121, and urge them to cosponsor and support S. 3275!

Oh, if only such a thing would pass. I've a feeling it won't stand a chance, though. Why might that be...?

Thinking about some people I know, some I met here...the idea of even more citizens running around with concealed firearms doesn't exactly thrill me.

    I'm having Bernard Getz flashbacks.

Yeah, and sometimes thugs do also and decide they better behave themselves. Right to carry laws have resulted in an appreciable drop in crime in those states which have passed them.

This is posturing by the republican majority which fears it will deservedly lose its majority power this november. Such a law makes too much sense for the denizens of the beltway to be able to appreciate. It will fail. There are not enough republicans to push it through and after the elections are over, the republicans will quickly forget all about such an issue.

Really. God forbid that we become so safe.

It just shows how little respect the Bill of Rights commonly gets, if it gets any at all from politicians in general and left-wingers of all kinds. The right to keep and bear arms is explicitly stated and no level of government has any authority to legislate against it, which means that the bill is redundant; that right is fundamental to our freedom as human beings. But then the fact that the Founders so empowered us to defend ourselves against tyrants is proven wise by the flapping of wings that the mention of guns in citizens' hands elicits from the anti-Constitution leftist extremes, both in congress and in the media.

I'll be writing my officials (sellouts) from both parties, and telling them I want to see it passed.

We already have that right. All this does is make for more laws to circumvent both older laws and the constitution itself. It's politics as usual, with no regard for US citizens.
