female android - Repliee Q1.

This is just too cool - Battlestar Galactica anyone.."one day robots could fool us into believing they are human."

Great stuff, the Japanese are turning into the world leaders in human mimicking robotics. Who knows what the next decade in this type of robotics holds.

Professor Ishiguru (r) stresses the importance of appearance
Japanese scientists have unveiled the most human-looking robot yet devised - a "female" android called Repliee Q1.

She has flexible silicone for skin rather than hard plastic, and a number of sensors and motors to allow her to turn and react in a human-like manner.

She can flutter her eyelids and move her hands like a human. She even appears to breathe.

Professor Hiroshi Ishiguru of Osaka University says one day robots could fool us into believing they are human.

They get a lot of help from humans who act like robots. I thought Star Trek's Spock was an ideal personality until I started dating.

The advances made in the last decade amaze me. With the increased processing power, memory advances and the tactile sensors and hydraulics mimicking human movement, all that would be needed is the advanced AI software and memory database.

We may soon see the day where androids are everywhere. Someone probably needs to make sure they follow Isaac Asimov Robotic Rules though.

There was a story on a sidebar about robot dogs playing soccer/football.

I Robot, can they make a male robot who only has eyes for me....

I'd like to see this technology being used more towards integrating with humans, as in helping people who have spinal injuries etc. I'd love to see science being used with positive outcomes, instead of for marketing/sales/entertainment/war/destruction.
