When is stem cell rejuvenation going to become a viable therapy?

Pluripotent stem cells can in theory be harvested from pregnant women as they migrate through the blood stream removing any kind of religious objection to using said stem cells.

Women reportedly also live longer in general because of these stem cells which provide a regenerative boost to their systems providing fresh cells to suport their aging infrastructure.

My question is when do we get to the point where we harvest the stem cells and cultivate them indefinitely and inject them into father and mother periodically to provide regenerative treatments?

I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs and insanity for everyone, but its always worked for me.

I don't know the in's and out's of stem cell harvesting, but if it is going to help a lot of people, then great. Apparently the research has been very promising, with reports on all sorts of problems arresting due to their stimulation to make what the body is absent of. Imagine is they could help the nerves of the spinal cord re-myelinate themselves, many conditions would be helped. People like christopher reeves may have been able to walk again and hold his head up himself. People like michael fox with parkinsons may be helped, and millions of ordinary people all over the world are waiting for them to come to a point where stem cell therapy will provide a cure.

I'm all for stem cell research. So many can benefit from the research and cures could be found. Fascinating stuff.

It depends on a lot of factors. Likely, the tharapy will be availible in other countries before it is availible in the US. Even if everything went smoothly for the science, it will be about 5 years until safe, mass application processes will be developed, and another 2-3 years until the FDA approves the procedures. In some countries they are in phase 2 testing already, but the FDA normally requires the research to be redone.

Of course if bush has his way, we will just replace medical procudures with fail healings.

Sorry for the double, but I wanted to add another point.

The idea of stem sell tharapies are hardly new. Bone marrow transplants are a form of stem cell tharapy. The goal is to regenerate the blood from pluripotent stem cells. When we speak of stem cell research here, the common meaning is more radical regeneration from totepotant stem cells. It is an extra degree of complexity quantitatively, but it is qualitatively the same thing we have been doing for years.

Yes I understand what youre saying prometheus, we have been using factor 8 and 9 from donated blood for hemophiliacs for at least half a century that i'm aware of. I suppose it's all about targeting, getting the right originator for the correct cell renewal, to target accurately the condition of the patient. Ive never understood people's negativity towards it, as long as it's being regulated.
