They're invisible, odorless, tasteless, soundless, and if you reach out and try to touch them you can't feel anything...

    kinda like god.
They are like mythical ghosts too. Does that prove that ghosts exist?

I take problem with Steven Hawking's assertion that we shouldn't talk to Aliens. If they were able to travel across solar systems or any number they would easily be able to end humanity. If they are attempting to talk they likely aren't interested in killing us all but rather in the cultural and intellectual exchange we could have.

I am sure any species that finds us and comes to us and doesn't immediately destroy us would be looking for knowledge just as we are. I would be willing to assuming that most, if not all, intelligent life is curious. Curiosity might just fuel and cause intelligent life.

Extra terrestial life is proven to exist, I think. But it's just microorganisms on Mars.

On the other hand, while intelligent extra terrestial life is not proven to exist, I am almost sure, simply because of the universe's size, that it exists somewhere.

They will certainly not destroy us, at least not immidiately that is. They might want to help us, or gain something from us and then destroy us or something.

I'm also pretty sure that there must have been alien visitors on our planet, despite the vast lightyears seperating us, somehow.

Likely evidence is the existance of Area 51 and the Majestic-12 documents.

They are probably just different from us. That distnictive & unparalleled nature, dosen't make them, if they exist, any better from us.

I'm not sure that licking aliens is a good idea. You don't know where they've been.

Logical:If they are attempting to talk they likely aren't interested in killing us all but rather in the cultural and intellectual exchange we could have.
If true, it means their history is vastly different to ours, which has been largely about acquisition. For all we know, we may look and smell like lamb chops to them. *pushes Logical forward as chief spokesperson*

Slissith:Extra terrestial life is proven to exist, I think
It's life, Jim, but not as we know it.

They will certainly not destroy us, at least not immidiately that is. They might want to help us, or gain something from us and then destroy us or something.
I just love this sentence. You start with a strong statement,
"they will certainly not destroy us"
    ; get cold feet
"at least not immediately that is
"; then desperately search for some hope
"they might want to help us or gain something from us"
but finally give up in despair
"and then destroy us or something."
Long-time belief in something by some people and even universality of belief does not, unfortunately, mean a hellva lot:

The Easter Bunny was introduced to the United States by the German settlers who arrived in the Pennsylvania Dutch country during the 1700s.[4] The arrival of the Osterhase was considered one of "childhood's greatest pleasures", similar to the arrival of Kriist Kindle (from the German Christkindl) on Christmas Eve.
The tooth fairy tradition is present in different cultures, in different guises, in western cultures, in Asia and Japan.
In early Europe, it was a tradition to bury baby teeth that fall out.[1] This combination of ancient international traditions has evolved into one that is distinct to Anglo-Saxon and Latin American cultures among others
    .

I think I just fopund a reason for aliens to visit Earth:
Mission scientists correctly predicted that the lander would not survive the Martian winter, which is nearly twice as long as that on Earth (a Martian year is equivalent to 687 days, or slightly less than two years on Earth). Its instruments were not meant to withstand the prolonged stretches of frigid temperatures and frost.

It's obvious that extraterrestrials won't posses any sort of documentation showing them to be citizens of any nation on this planet, so I sure hope they don't land in Arizona. They'd be immediately arrested as illegal aliens.

Think of the cost to deport them.
