| The Spoof : Large Hadron Collider Responsible for Global Financial Crisis funny satire story Sorry, this idea was scooped by my colleague James almost three months ago when he sent me an e-mail talking about "financial black holes". ![]() Anyway, quite an anti-climax on the particle physics front. | The Iceman Cometh | CERN LHC; 2009 A New Year In View! December 27th 2008 Nono: I could not agree with you more; yes, 2008 has been an anti-climax year in particle physics, but 2009 lies dead ahead offering a continuation of optimism, excitement, anxiety, and justified concern. Remember, the underlying purpose of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is to challenge, test, and/or validate the current interpretations of the 'Standard Model'; on which the LHC has already been designed and built upon! *This paradox forms: CERN LHC is necessary to validate the theoretically-mathematic interpretations of the 'Standard Model', yet the LHC has been created upon the premise of a pre-existing (current) 'Standard Model' accuracy. There is no way to escape this 'chicken or the egg came first' paradox, except by taking the calculated risk, and completing the experiments. As 2009 approaches, and realizing the LHC has achieved thus far nothing spectacular (other than aligning the beams for safety-test collisions), I observe the scientific community holding high-hopes for possibly discovering ('IF' they exist): >Parallel Dimensions >Time Loops >The Secrets of Controlling Plasma, Mass, Matter, Energy, and Gravitation. (Plasmatic Luminosity Fusion). Only time will reveal nature's true hidden secrets, as we diligently 'seek and find' these perceptive-reality changing answers!!! 2009: the year in view - Times Online 2009: LHC gears up for July restart - NewScientist 2009: A longer delay for the Large Hadron Collider - CNET ============== 2008 - A Look Back: LHC Article Index - MSNBC Photos - The damage that halted the LHC - CNET Please share this customized link: "Tell G-8 Leaders: Add Human Rights To The Globalization Process!" : http://tinyurl.com/HumanRights4-G8 - Petition @ Change.org Last edited by Robert Marsh II; Dec 27, 2008 at 09:48 am. |

| Damnation back on track "Just because the general public might be impressed by a lot of arrogant intellectuals mouthing off about how smart they are does not change the FACT that CERN is an experiment and the outcome is not predictable". I am adding my comment here because on the science forums there is bias allowing scientists to make fun of concerned citizens. The moderators on some forums take some time if the comments go the other way, close discussion or refuse to allow an opposition debate. In short an unfair and improper bias exists in the debate. First of the top seven criticisms of the year by the scientific community is the legal challenge by Wagner and Sancho against CERN. In quantum scientists assume there is no variation of time as seen in general relativity. Scientists say because time is not a factor the LHC is safe and yet in the Alice experimentr the muon chamber is a TPC (time projection chamber). I have tried to add just the first and last paragraph to the blog above, still waiting moderation. What I really want to add is that I am so sick of all the lies, untruths and contradictory duplicity of what science is claiming. Who else thinks that the CERN scientific community makes global terrorism look tame by comparison. Well it is as far as I am concerned (my name is supplied). Complete and utter destruction by fire from one of a vast array of unknowns not factored into the equations. Scientists are arrogant and people are stupid, too stupid to recognize a group of insane people are hell bent on destroying their world. |

You really think particle physicists pose a greater threat to the free world than global terrorism? How many deaths can be attributed to particle physicists over the past 10 yrs? Furthermore, what group of insane people are hell bent on destroying their world? ... Sounds more like a description of the war mongering terrorist states like Iran and N Korea who would sooner use a nuke than partake in peace talks. Is there uncertainty in the experiments these physicists are conducting? ... Sure there is, but the calculated risk of disaster is much smaller than ... say ... the economic risk of printing trillions and trillions of new dollars to prop up industries that have already failed ... or of shooting rockets into populated areas ... or of bombing mostly civilian targets in neighboring countries. Put things in perspective. I personally think the LHC is more of a novelty than a real useful tool to materially improve our knowledge base of real tangible information. It is not going to cure AIDS or cancer, it is not going to boost the economy or create jobs, it is not going to lead to peace in the middle east ... but it will make for some interesting water cooler talk and probably spark some interesting new theories about things that will probably never affect any of us (like the creation of the universe, or the source of mass). If your concern is the propegation of humanity in the face of a real threat ... fight global warming or racial/religious/political intolerance. Fight against disease ... fight against hunger and poverty ... but for God's sake, you really think fighting nerdy physicists is really taking on a just cause?

| Blasphemy I've just purchased some light reading by Douglas Preston. He writes a lot with his buddy Lincon Child. "With Blasphemy, Douglas Preston has finally gone too far. One way or another, I'm afraid he may burn for this book."—Lincoln Child Right on topic with a super collider, bigger than CERN in a coal mine, starting up. Oh yeah, this is definitely today's science fiction. Amazon.com: Blasphemy: Douglas Preston: Books If the terrain and the map do not agree, follow the terrain. | BLASPHEMY by Douglas Preston “Can science discover God? Blasphemy is a stunningly ambitious novel that lives up to its goals. The theme is nothing less than the question: Is science the new religion?”—Barbara D’Amato, Edgar Award Winner and author of Death of a Thousand Cuts Well, the Christians ain't gonna like this one. Preston has anticipated this by putting an afterwords disclaimer at the end of the paperback version. It is the same as the text in the Amazon review where he gave his own book a 4 star rating. The advent of CERN doing physics on a large scale is dwarfed by Isabella, the collider at Red Mesa, Arizona. Hell, the thing is in an old coal mine. Just up my alley. Isabella is having start up troubles, like CERN. There are Luddites protesting Isabella, like CERN. There are preachers and bible thumping believers protesting that science is the tool of the anti-christ and Isabella the Beast, like CERN. Hmm. Even the reservation Navajo are getting peeved at the project. So the President sends a spy under the guise of public liaison to see "what's the deal" with the 40 billion dollar collider. He's chosen because of his past CIA work and because an old flame is assistant director of Isabella. He'd also spent time in a monastery. This is one unusual startup problem to say the least. A portal has opened in a detector when Isabella is at full power and God begins to talk. Not right and a hackers code is suspected. But the problem is no problem at all and finally the whole team has to concede the reality of what is happening. An old broke preacher in a nearby town catches wind of what's going on and contacts a media mogul TV preacher and the immolations get off to a rousing start and a fiery finish as Armageddon takes place at Red Mesa. The bible worshipers do not come off at all in any sort of a good light. But are the scientists any better? Calling the old preacher "a germ" is certainly not the way to address his concerns even as nutty as they were. The appendix of this fiction piece is pretty unique. It has the disclaimer to the Christians and the text of the words of God from the story. Preston's old writing partner, Lincoln Child had this to say of Blasphemy. "With Blasphemy, Douglas Preston has finally gone too far. One way or another, I'm afraid he may burn for this book."—Lincoln Child An excellent read. This is my type of speculative fiction. Page turner. If the terrain and the map do not agree, follow the terrain. When motherhood becomes the fruit of a deep yearning, not the result of ignorance or accident, its children will become a new race. |

| The Iceman Cometh | CERN LHC: Lookout! "Desk-Sized Colliders Are The Future Of Particle Acceleration!" January 6th 2009 The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be rendered possibly obsolete, before even actual full-powered collisions!? This may be accomplished by a 'new' laser-plasma technology, which allows for 'smaller' particle accelerator development. Even desk-top accelerators have been proposed --- So, if the LHC is to leave its mark upon particle physics' history, they had better accelerate their repair/modifications quickly! Quantum entanglement now proven over eleven kilometers is an indication of something in nature with tachyon like property. Tachyons mean a deterministic state. All time frames reference each other all things potentially knowable. Humans are safe from such knowledge because they lack the capacity to understand or communicate in the present. A deterministic state simply means the knowledge and the number 666 is known through all time. Have a really good look at the CERN logo. Don't call me God and yes taking on a bunch of nerdy physicists is a worthy cause. | |

| No have a look at the new size of our galaxy. I am vindicated in my assessment of connected reality from a conceptual point of view. The speed estimated will climb over the next few years exceeding a million miles per hour, that is a prediction based on logic. To understand what is to come one must read prophesy. We are faced with a number of alternatives apparently. Life under extreme conditions of change or utter destruction. A logical destructive scenario is a Bose-Nova explosion which will be preceded momentarily by the scream and stampede of the world's animal life ... then oblivion. |

| Dark Matter Quote:
If dark matter is not found in suitable concentration to counteract the force of dark energy the galaxy will fly apart. Dark energy does seem to be increasing to compensate. Secondly it needs to clump specifically around each star and planet to maintain equilibrium. A star needs to be dark matter assisted to maintain internal heating processes otherwise it will swell due to dark energy and heat up. Likewise a planet needs to receive local dark matter clumping to counteract the force of dark energy. If the local dark matter clumping does not occur the planet's atmosphere will start to swell. Initially this is an assist to space exploration as a higher thinner usable atmosphere enables new launch choices. Depending on how much and how rapidly the atmosphere swells will determine whether the local populations can adapt to the hypoxia. Loss of atmospheric pressure reduces the bodys ability to absorb oxygen. At first slight dizzyness followed by confusion then sleepiness. It is possibly the most gentle way to go if one had to choose. Certainly pressure tents and oxygen bottles will counteract the symptoms. You know I actually prefer the model of cyclical time because after the lion and lamb have been made to lie down and rest there is an afterwards. In the standard model an imbalance of dark matter to dark energy is long term problematic with no end. In the cyclical model there is a limited transition timeframe. In the cyclical model we have to survive the large hadron collider and the certainty that no mathematical modelling has been done to ensure safety or survival, shame really.

Morally it is considered wrong to build a machine that could destroy the world. However the argument against morality is how one you be sure unless it is first tested. That is why science has an Ethics Committee so that known results can be graded and assigned varying levels of ethical value. So it is ethical to build a first destroyer of worlds machine to test but it it may be unethical to some degree to build it again to destroy the world. Logically it only has to be destructive once. So the bottom line is if we survive the first destruction even once then it is ethical to build the next machine. Last edited by Michael Noonan; Jan 26, 2009 at 03:19 am.
