The founder of the Weather Channel wants to sue Al Gore for fraud, hoping a legal debate will settle the global-warming debate once and for all. John Coleman, who founded the cable network in 1982, suggests suing for fraud proponents of global warming, including Al Gore, and companies that sell carbon credits. "Is he committing financial fraud? That is the question," Coleman said. "Since we can't get a debate, I thought perhaps if we had a legal challenge and went into a court of law, where it was our scientists and their scientists, and all the legal proceedings with the discovery and all their documents from both sides and scientific testimony from both sides, we could finally get a good solid debate on the issue," Coleman said. "I'm confident that the advocates of 'no significant effect from carbon dioxide' would win the case."

Will we finally have a show-down? I hope so. Will it finally be publicly proven that Al Gore is a fraud? (let alone a hipocrite) I hope so. But will any of you on the left listen to the findings of weather experts and the ruling of a court of law? I doubt it.

Global warming will win.. unless Al Gore has been making exagerated claims just to get peoples attention. There is more then enough scientific evidence for global warming to be considered a threat.

Many Baghdad Residents See Snow for the First Time

Milwaukee's 12.4 inches of snow Friday brought the city's total this season to 96 inches, its second-heaviest on record.

The storm battered a wide band from the lower Mississippi Valley to New England, dropping 17.5 inches of snow at St. Agatha, Maine; 14 inches at Milan, Ind.; and up to a foot in parts of Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, western New York state and other parts of Ohio.

This is not an issue about global warming, but about anthropogenic global warming. Humans causing global warming by CO2 is negligible. I have yet to see unequivocal evidence for anthropogenic GW. There is contradicting evidence.

Yes. As far as I know, the only evidence against it is that mabe temperatures are rising naturaly. This is more of an alternate explanation then a direct contradiction of man made global warming.

There is nothing that directly contradicts man made global warming; since natural global warming and man made global warming can both happen at once.

To the OP, Coleman isn't going to sue Al Gore. He only made that comment in passing at the Heartland Institute sponsored gathering of denialists in New York recently. He isn't going to sue him because accusing scientists of fraud (which is essentially what he'd have to do, since it's scientists, not Gore, who publish evidence supporting the theory) is rather serious business, and Coleman, who has precisely no experience in this sort of thing (he's never published a single piece of original research), realizes he has no case.

It would be kind of amusing to watch though. If Gore brought in some climate scientists for testimony Coleman would receive a beating reminiscent to the one cdesign proponentist Michael Behe took during the Dover monkey trials in 2005. And it might actually serve to educate people on the science behind the theory.

Of course that any scientist or science who finds evidence against the IPCC are are not treated well. "In 1988, James Hansen, a climatologist, told the US Congress that temperature would rise 0.3C by the end of the century (it rose 0.1C), and that sea level would rise several feet (no, one inch). The UN set up a transnational bureaucracy, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)."

These affects are negligible and not alarming. Politics should not be driven by hysteria.

For a bunch of scientist, the IPCC seems to be entangled in politics and deserves skepticism. The IPCC is selective in their hiring process and their peer review process seems a little shoddy. Read about it here.

Science thrives off of skepticism, not hysteria. Al Gore created hysteria and was awarded the Nobel Prize for it. I remain skeptical of:
1. AGW
2. That it is threating to our civilization
3. Mitigation over Adaptation.
