![]() Seeking the Unknown Location: Southern California Posts: 1,274 | Treatment of Extraterrestrials Ok, heres a bit of a thought. Lets say we come across a species on another planet with sort of society or tools. Like, a species with simple hand tools, technology like swords and spears, or something like ours or more advanced then ours. If we happened upon this, how should we react in your opinion? Should we try to make contact and establish peace? Should we take them and study them against their will? Should we consider them a threat and wipe them out? What do you think. Note, this is if the species is similar to us in like wise of technology. Also, another part would be all types of life on other worlds if you want to be more general. I think if we discovered another species, we should try to have a peaceful contact with them. First, we should try something like radio contact. I say this because face to face contact can be VERY dangerous. If we recall when settlers came from Europe to The Americas, the brought many diseases with them that killed a great deal of the natives. Once we find out about what might those diseases are, we can try to meet face to face. We should try to gain from each other. Learn, create, share, co-exist. As for lower forms of life, I suggest we try to do observational studies and try to preserve species. This is my opinion anyway, whats yours? Knowledge is power, use it well. Don't fear the unknown, seek to understand it |

It starts out all nice and friendly, and then suspicion takes hold and it's all down hill from there. We can't really get along with other humans, so I don't see cosmic beings fairing much better in our relations. I'd like to thank Charlie Hodge, bringing me scarves and water. |

But your next response changed that, I no longer need to pretend we have one, it is right here. If history can give us a hint then your Planet of the Apes (fantasy movie) idea might be right. When America was first discovered by Spain and others followed a major war finally broke out, between people still using bows and arrows and the explorers who had a slight technological edge ( they had guns). But we would be sending scientists and intellecturals into outerspace to explore the universe. A different class of people then those military dum dums like you see in Starwars or on Star Trek. I doubt if ray guns will be on their list of needed things when our science community goes exploring in space. The Apes by the way were not aliens.

Also the Aliens in the UFOs do not abduct people just to study them, they come here to collect two (or more) of every kind of animal so they can be moved to another location as back up stock in case the humans distroy this planet they can re-taraform the place a-new. That would include human animals but they conduct a medical exam to make sure they have healthy people to restock earth with after doomsday. The "Noah Project" as it is called is a good thing. Unhealthy people are returned to earth, the rest might end up as "missing persons" on some milk bottle to insure that earth can be re-seeded with animals and plants & humans in case humans destory earth with the missuse of our technology. That is one fantasy theory. I have a feeling this whole thread might get abducted by an alien monitor. And we have no place to hide!

![]() Molten Ash Posts: 101 | It would totally depend how far they had advanced, if they are less or equal we should observe and study them, and maby after a while make contact. If they are more advanced we would assume they already knew about us and make contact probably asap. In the event that they have a religon that says their are no other species besides themselves, we would be sacrilage just for existing and could not contact them until they get over the whole religon thing, in the event they have lots of oil and natural resources we nuke the bitches and take their oil. (yes that is a joke, about the oil part) |

Are you kidding? You may be cool enough to make peaceful contact but man in general kills anything he doesnt understand, or fears, especially if they were more advanced. Man would feel threigtened and destroy to the best of his ability. If it was an inferior or less advanced race man would dominate, controll, suppress it etc. If it was complacent enough to all the control (like the general public) it'd be allowed to live in order to serve the purpose of those in charge (just like the general public again).

I dont think they would destroy us, not having the ability to get off their planet to come and find us to start with. They could of course possibly kill any humans who posed as Gods there but, the cameras filming it all for reality shows beamed back to earth, well can you imagine with nanotechnology how advanced cameras could be by then? The primitive aliens wouldn't have a clue they were even around, they could be wearing them as part of their jewelry for all they knew. Or the cameras could be implanted by tiny flying nanorobots into sweat pores of theirs daily by the hundreds in case they accidentally scratched them out It would be a sure ratings winner back on earth, if the aliens rose up and overthrew their human masters.

![]() Igneous Magma Location: Massachusetts, USA Posts: 313 | Steven Hawking noted that things generally go really bad for civilizations being 'discovered' by technologically advanced socities. I agree that if we stumble upon a civilization, the one with the most advanced war technology will destroy the other rather quickly (within a century, at the most). The question is pertinent because I believe we are on the cusp of finding life forms on Titan or Europa (within a generation). Even bacterial life must be treated carefully if/when we stumble across it. |

Also, i think we've found frozen water on Mars as well. Don't know much about Titan though, i'll look into it. Knowledge is power, use it well. Don't fear the unknown, seek to understand it |
