New Bacteria Contaminate Hairspray

New bacteria contaminate hairspray
Quote:
Scientists in Japan have discovered a new species of bacteria that can live in hairspray, according to the results of a study published in the March issue of the International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology.
Evolution, couldn't exist without it but it might just kill us. Unless we're smart... But what is smart when it comes to bacteria and antibiotics? Should we keep doing what we're doing? Should we stop making stronger antibiotics but keep administering the ones we have? Should we stop them all together?

There will never be an end to bacteria.

Not a major news source. Sorry, but to Science this goes...

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

And yet, the science board doesn't seem to be policed nearly so strictly. Thus, we have threads that speculate about spirits, population zero, moon landings as conspiracy theories, the morality of cloning, electronic boarder searches, and on and on.

I'm not sure what your comment means. Our current situation in regards to infectious bacteria has been accelerated by the indiscriminant administration of antibiotics. If you have a cold, antibiotics are useless unless you develop a secondary bacterial infection. And yet, people expect antibiotics from their doctor for viral infections.

Beyond that, antibiotics are routinely put into the food of beef cattle, not to fight infections, but to prevent infections that might reduce the cash value of the herd. You eat beef and get those antibiotics.

Should we stop trying to develop effective antibiotics against newly evolved bacteria? Hell no. Not unless you think that it is a good idea that a significant proportion of the human population should die a horrible death.

And still, even in the face of bacterial mutations that are immune to antibiotics, or that can live on the waste products from the manufacture of nylon, or even live in hair spray, some deny the possibility of evolution.

How bizarre and ignorant.

Yeah, they should screen out those kinds of posts that make people think outside of the boarderlines of pre-established knowledge.

If you see something that should not be, report it. We can't be big brother. We can't see everything.

Report it and it can then be moved. Otherwise We don't know about it. You give valid reasons on why certain topics should be moved. However with the Moon topic, Although the Original post was about conspiracy, I believe other members have laid the scientific smack down on said conspiracy, so maybe it should stay. Feel free to either report these threads or PM me for further discussion.

DO NOT RESPOND IN THIS THREAD TO THE PRECEDING MESSAGE.

It is a close relative of bacteria that dwells in other products and places. What is the big deal? I would guess that thoughout the world thousands of "new" bacteria can be found, perhaps everyday, that are simular to those already known about.

They do not know if this new version is a threat to human health yet, and so we have no need for alarm until so advised.

What kind of thing would want to live in hairspray anyway? Gee wiz, evolution needs a better designer.

Anyway they can run the hairspray past some irradation device and wipe out the bacteria before we use it to spray hair with. As they wanted to do with food but protesters have slowed down the use of that technology.
