Yes I have seen "The Island" and I doubt that people would allow such use of cloning for organs.

Also, identical twins are natural clones, for they share the same DNA.

I think the way people want cloning to occur is to have the organs grown in a lab, not cloning the entire person. If we can do this or not is yet to be seen.
That falls under Stem Cell Research and we will be able to cure numerous diseases.

Cloning an entire person should never happen. It's not natural and could have many negative consequences. Not to mention we already have too many people on this world.

As for cloning organs, I think that could work to some degrees. For some reason I wouldn't mind it if it was a kidney or lung, but not a brain.

I would agree with you if you were right.

Well, not necessarily true. Identical twins are technically clones.

Shouldn't all cloning be banned? No one should be allowed to clone anything, ever. There should be no cloning of roses, tulips, or potatoes. Never should apples, oranges, or cherries be cloned. After all, these things are much too cheap and they should be grown naturally, no matter what the price. Let's not even talk about tomatoes and GM agriculture.
Why? It appears that we are producing enough humans already without cloning. Besides, cloning isn't nearly as much fun as producing more humans naturally - well...except for the delivery room part.
Of cloning what?
Ya, who really cares if we could bring back an endangered species that could still survive in our environment. We should stop waisting resources and put and end to cloning plants, and while were at it, lets go ahead and save a few bucks by getting rid of that stupid space program! If you couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic. The whole reason we clone animals and plants is to experiment and see if we can learn more. We are still in the learning process as far as cloning is concerned. I agree we shouldn't clone humans, but to say no cloning at all is either fear or ignorance.

Oh! Gosh. Thanks for telling me. It was so subtle I might have thought your were serious otherwise.

It is not. Way back when I was a child my father and some of his work associates knew farmers who could buy "seed potatoes". They came in 100 lb bags for pennies per pound compared to grocery store prices. These were Russet potatoes, of course. The practice of burying pieces of potato the have at least one "eye" is cloning. Rarely are potatoes ever grown from seed.

But, of course, it's much too late for that. As I mentioned, we clone all kinds of agricultural products. Does that present a problem for anyone? If so, why do you eat potatoes, apples, oranges, cherries, and why do you give roses on Valentines Day? The question isn't about whether cloning is moral, but rather, about what is being cloned.

It would be cruel to the clonies. they would have identity crisis not to mention segregation. But i am all for the cloning of wooly mammoths, we made them extinct we should bring them back to life.

Cloning is an interesting prospect and will probably come in useful for humans at some point. Some crazy things are happening to the human race even if it is not yet apparent. For reasons to do with increased background radiation, Female hormanes in drinking water (due to the pill) and other reasons unknown to me male sperm counts are gradually reducing and it is likely nothing is going to change the world enough to combat this problem. So. In anther couple of generations there may well be an increasing amount of infertile males on this decaying planet and a couple of further generations down the line broody females will be knocking down the doors of the last 'productive' males in order to extract the required fluids by whatever means they can in order to perpetuate the existence of the human race. Perhaps i am a touch cynical and perhaps humans won't even last that long but it's possible. So maybe having a perfected form of cloning for a rainy day such as this would not be such a bad idea.

Cloning. I'm surprised this isn't already a thread somewhere on the site.

Where should the limits on cloning be put?
Should we be cloning at all?
Should cloning humans ever become reality, which it probably will, should we do it?
Do the benefits outweigh the drawbacks of cloning?
A nervous system is the key element and/or factor up for the cloning process us not to be able to procede with at all, unless we are can control the Universe.
