Monkeys Sex

Quote:
Female monkeys may shout during sex to help their male partners climax, research now reveals.

Without these yells, male Barbary macaques (Macaca sylvanus) almost never ejaculated, scientists found.

Female monkeys often utter loud, distinctive calls before, during or after sex. Their exact function, if any, has remained heavily debated.

Counting pelvic thrusts

To investigate the purpose behind these calls, scientists at the German Primate Center in Göttingen focused on Barbary macaques for two years in a nature reserve in Gibraltar.

The researchers found that females yelled during 86 percent of all sexual encounters. When females shouted, males ejaculated 59 percent of the time. However, when females did not holler, males ejaculated less than 2 percent of the time.

To see if yelling resulted from how vigorous the sex was, the scientists counted the number of pelvic thrusts males gave and timed when they happened. They found when shouting occurred, thrusting increased. In other words, hollering led to more vigorous sex.

Counting monkey pelvic thrusts is admittedly "quite weird, but it's science," researcher Dana Pfefferle, a behavioral scientist and primatologist at the German Primate Center, told LiveScience. "You get used to it."

Quite promiscuous

Male and female Barbary macaques are promiscuous, often having sex with many partners. This means sperm levels can get quite drained. The females shout when they are most fertile, so males can make the most use of their sperm.

Pfefferle noted her research suggests these calls might also make females more attractive to other males. She added these shouts might play different roles in other species.

Pfefferle and her colleagues detailed their findings online Dec. 18 in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

Study Reveals Why Monkeys Shout During Sex | LiveScience

I've heard some here say that we are not animals. Are humans and apes more alike than some want to admit?
In your opinion, does being vocal durning sex help men ejaculate as well? From my experience, it does.

Mods, please move this thread to the adult section if you feel that is where it belongs.

That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong.

It really depends on how they are being vocal. I usually find that there shouting out "Oh god , get him off me,get him off me " doesn't really help that much.

Nan. Let's talk about sex when it's a matter of sex. If I'm old enough to debate I'm old enough to know how life starts.
And even if I was 6, why is sex taboo? Are you ashamed to be unable to reproduce by parthenogenesis?
Gonna start a thread, thanks for the idea.

I think, I'm free.

Don't those of us who have been sexually active know, perhaps subconsciously, that all the senses are involved in sexual arousal? The more of our senses that are engaged, the more aroused we become. It makes sense to me that aural stimulation isn't all that different than tactile stimulation.

It's all good.

Thills and speed can result in screams. I just did my own research while putting together some rock and roll music for my CD collection.

One the pioneers of fast music was Little Richard, and he got famous for his scream ( that he calls his howl) that he makes during a song, right before the intramental part and then it seems the music gets faster and more instense. That is more "beats" per moment on the piano or drums.

Soon all the rockabilly singers who play real fast music started to scream during their frantic songs. That seemed to be a turn on. As music became a kind of para-sexual experience in getting high.

Later Little Richard came out of the closet and started to dress like the girls also. Hmm?

A climax is not alway related to sex I would speculate, but with simular overtones.

Then I found this amazing song from the Rolling Stones "Circus" show. Called "a whole lotta Yoko". The Stones were playing this real fast background music and Yoko Ono just scream through the whole song. It was totally primeval ( if I spelled that right). Reminded me of the "go ape" screams mentioned. Or some Native American song with such screams in it, as mating songs or war songs. Making babies or killing people, the fever pitch is simular.

But the monkey clan do not do much killing of others, like us human primates. But they go into rages simular to fighting. With lots of screaming for that as well.

Rock and roll, going faster and faster and louder and louder, seems linked to this topic in my mind. And a scream at the right moment adds to the fever pitch.

They did another study a while back that more teen girls get laid while listening to heavy metal music then any other kind of music. Hmm?

So perhaps humans add more exciting racket to their sex then the monkey does, via music. What would happen if they played screaming rock and roll in the monkey cage?

Another project of the "science of screaming" and then they can inform us about what we already knew. At least some of us.

Whoever said that that lied. Not only are we animals, we are mammals and primates.

To be honest, my experience isn't all that varied. I tended to be monogamous for long periods with only a few women before I met my wife, and I have been monogamous since I met her.

However, in my limited experience, silence isn't sexy. Scream, shout if it moves you. Talk dirty. Explain what you are going to do with your eyes, hands, lips, teeth and tongue in as extreme detail, and then announce each step along the way. Build sexual tension with careful foreplay and the vocal part will follow.

For one thing the noise makes the male feel that is female partner is getting some feeling out of the activity, which would encourge more action. Also, a sudden scream might cause a climax for the male, simular to getting scared suddenly and wetting your pants. Sorry about the frankness but this is an idea worth mentioning.

I once saw a bird lay an egg because something scared it. A scream might have the same kind of "shock value" during sex.

A scream likewise is a audio version of a physical release of energy which is part of the sexural activity, relative to the emotional side of the experience.

Like a pressure cooker making a whistling sound as pressure is released - some like it hot.

I wonder if a monkey could have phone sex with a another monkey making those noises?

Well, acturally, I could care less. Why waste research money on such nonsense.

Realative to evolution. The idea that a girl can make a monkey out of a man does not prove that you can make a man out of a monkey.
