| slipping sand Posts: 1,802 | i never liked mars anyways. but seriously, is there any threat posed to earth by this? What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! The paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me; no, nor woman neither.. |

No. There is a slight chance (1 in 75) that it may hit Mars. Did you read the article? As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion;... --From Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli passed unanimously by the Senate 1797

Milton, it should make quite a blast, lol. The dust will fly far & wide in the lower gravity of Mars. But as to how large a scope in order to detect it..?? I would guess maybe a 4 inch refractor 8 inch SCT.

At least I would think they could with all our technology for measuring such things. The "odds" would suggest a near miss, in my opinon. A way for them to have something to report for news attention. The most interesting solar observation of late was the report that a black hole bombarded a neighboring solar system with a beam of energy, like a ray gun.
