| Molten Ash Posts: 87 | Gene Based Technology... I believe technology (what we make and use) is greatly effected by our genes. I've come up with quite a large list of things but I want to add to it. Here are some examples... Medication The size of our trachea and what can easily go down it combined with our swallowing ability, is genetic. Our genes determine it. Medication/Pills have to be small enough to swallow and still maintain their effectiveness. Condoms All I'm going to say is, "magnum." Computer Keyboard The keys have to be spaced in accordance with how big the human hand is. The letters on the keys have to be "visible" to our eyes. Walking Stick Has to be big enough and strong enough to support our weight but must be small enough and light enough for us to use it. What else can we think of? |

Just as a Cheetah has to be big and strong enough to kill a gazelle yet light enough to catch it. Alas, walking sticks may experience pressure to be suitable for their users or become stuck in a garbage pile, but no two successful sticks will ever get together and make little sticks. I can't debate things that make no sense. What exactly are you trying to prove? Destroying America one Volconvo post at a time. Parent: An immediate ancestor or set of immediate ancestors who by some means of reproduction, created a child. With plants, a model (dna) of the Parent (tree) is carried off in thousands directions within it's seeds. It sends instructions that, when read in the right environment produce a tree very similar to the Parent. With cats a model of the Parent is put into tiny eggs and the eggs are carefully placed in just the right environment to produce more cats which look very much like the Parent. Walking sticks don't reproduce the same way animals do. They don't reproduce the same way plants do, unless you argue that walking sticks are made of wood and wood is made fro... nevermind that's besides the point. The point is, walking sticks do in fact reproduce. They do. There's no denying it. I bet I could find a reproduction of Gandalf's staff even ![]() With walking sticks a model of the Parent* is put into an environment that is amazingly suited for walking stick reproduction. The human mind. Then it spreads. Not only to where the first model landed but also to where the first model's child landed. Another human mind. Then humans use their fertile minds and think up new ways of making or shaping a walking stick. Walking sticks reproduce. So do walking sticks. And to the following... "...no two successful sticks will ever get together and make little sticks." I've made many walking sticks in my life. The first one I made was too flimsy and broke right away. The second one I made was nice and sturdy but too damn short. The third one I made, that one worked pretty well... It was sturdy and tall. The models in my brain of the two parent walking sticks, or Parent, fused together and found a great environment to reproduce a new one. The new one included the good things from the Parent; strength and length. :) lighters just evolved for me :) I just realized that a certain brand throws flint particles up in to the air. Sometimes these get in my eyes. It hurts like a mmm mmmmmm when a sparking piece of flint flies right into your eyeball. This brand is dead to me now. This is a species that I won't help survive. And now I'm trying to light my cigarette and f'n can't! <-- diggs the lighter out of the garbage... *This parent is the cave man that first realized that the stick he was carrying around to bash something's head in with can actually be used to help him walk. Enjoy :) Last edited by treme; Sep 17, 2007 at 08:19 pm. Reason: Add link to staff :) | |

Medication: Although some aspects are determined by genes, it is not by genes but rather diet that you take a laxative or antacid. Condums: Although I agree the size of the condum is driven by one's genes, there are aspects that are unrelated: ribbed, flavoured, etc. Here's some more... Some hair products. Your genes determine if you will need volumizer or light or deep conditioner. But your lifestyle choice of colouring or using dryers also factors in to what products you need to repair the damage. For clothing, it is partially genetic. The length of the cut is determined by your genes, but the width of the cut is determined by your diet/exercise. |
