You might be able to make it close to the detail of the other eye, however you would notice the left eye would be blured more, due to effects applied. The stripes in the fur in the left eye would be more of a blob then anything.... it'd look more like a shade patch, rather then stripes..... and the eye would most likely turn into a blob of greens, grays and a black blob for where the iris is.

You could try the above techniques and see what happens, but just looking at the picture to the left, the chances of actually bringing it back to the exact detail of the right eye, is next to impossible.....

I mean, sure if you spent a few hours at it and blended things together manually and brushed in a few details compared to the right eye, you could probably get very close to the right eye..... but then again, that wouldn't be bringing back the original detail, you'd be manually adding the detail in..... and in court, that would also be thrown out, because it'd have been modified too much from the original image to determine was was originally there and what the designer added in..... in the end whatever would be in the final photo would be based on the interpretation of the designer, and then you hit more of a biased opinion of design, rather then facts and evidence.

And if you didn't have the right eye to reference, trying to add the details in manually wouldn't be very accurate at all, and if afterwards you were shown the right eye, chances are you'd see you didn't get things as accuratly as they should have been..... at that point, it's all about interpretation...... which is why I hate that crap on CSI.

Infact, I just watched another episode last night were they had our favorite asian miricle worker at the computer, where he clicked all kinds of things and pulled this BS again.... frig I don't even know why I even bother to watch that show anymore, it just continually pizzez me off.

Is there an image/video search engine where you can submit a photo and find matching images/videos on the net?

Not that I am aware of, but I never looked myself.... I normally just look through the image results in the Google Image Search when I am looking for something in paticular.

Mind you, I did see a site somewhere where they match a photo of yourself and compare it to celebrities..... I guess my most compatible face was Johnny Depp.

However, that program isn't all that accurate either, as if you submit another picture on another angle, you'd get a different set of results.

It doesn't actually have information on facial structures and such... what it did was search for the common color values in the face area. If I had darker shadowing around my cheekbones in relation to where my eyes are located in the middle of the peach area of skin, then it would search for images of celebs who had similar shading in a photo.

In fact.... here it is:

MyHeritage face recognition - Find the Celebrity in You

Upload a photo of yourself and see what happens.

Yeah, I just uploaded a picture of myself just now, and it failed to find any results..... probably because it was a black and white photo, which helps support my claim that it just searches for common color values.

What they do on CSI is to scare you into thinking they got the technology...
Not really. Law Enforcement isn't happy with this stuff either.

And here's a nice pick form that link:

On the CSI and L&O shows, toxicology and DNA tests often seem to be instantaneous, whereas actual results can take months. Blurry photos and video can be greatly magnified and sharpened to clearly reveal the most minute details, and audio recordings can be similarly processed to an unrealistic degree. Searches of computer databases of fingerprints, employee records, etc. are shown to be almost instantaneous and nearly foolproof. Furthermore, on some shows virtually all imaginable electronically stored information from building blueprints to old newspapers is readily accessible from the police or intelligence officer's computer, whereas in real life finding such information could take months. Finally, the investigators seem to be able to conjure up highly detailed graphic animations, often in 3D, in a matter of minutes or hours, where in reality specialists would work on such models for days or weeks.
