None of that is true. Soap is very weakly basic, and it works via the hydrophobic and hydrophilic ends of the fatty acid salt binding to the dirt and the water respectively; not by dissolving your skin.

Though, I can imagine that soap, whilst cleaning the skin, can do damage to the skin by cleaning a little bit too thourougly. "Cheese is a kind of meat, a tasty yellow beef" - Mighty Boosh Economic Left/Right: -0.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.38

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 2 | The way they can diagnose things has changed thru the years. 30 years ago aneurysms were fatal. Now x-ray technology and surgery has advaced to the point where if caught soon enough they can be repaired. My late husband was diagnosed in 2000 with a rare type of brain cancer that still has no proven cure. He died in late May 2000. His cancer was found via an MRI. There ARE brain tumors that are now found and can be removed with the patient going on to lead a normal life. Rehab has come a long way, too. Some stroke patients come out of rehab and lead normal lives. But, with those advances come decisions patients and families need to make about quality of life. |

I believe they are a bit more motivated than you make them out to be.
