Just, freaking wow. http://english.people.com.cn/200601/...21_237208.html Way to go America for finally getting on the bandwagon, even though we're so far behind other countries. http://english.people.com.cn/200603/...27_253827.html LOOK at that thing! It only costs $37 million!! The U.S. has AIRCRAFT that cost more than that!!! DAMN. I'm in awe of what can be achieved by a country without so much political-economic distraction and bullshit. |

| moderat-e/o-r Location: boston Posts: 11,184 | we seem to be falling behind in all areas of science - except military technology... the brits and asians are killing us on stem cell research - and when that research finally pays off, our drug companies won't stand a chance of surviving. all other developed countries are putting serious focus on alternative energies, including infrastructural investments in alternative energies (like the huge wind farms being constructed in china and europe).. china, south korea and taiwan all spend more per capita on nanotech r&d - and nanotech is seen as the key to the next revolution in computer processing. we're far behind in robotics research.. the two common themes here is that education in the u.s. is continuously outperformed by competitors in asia and europe.. the other one is that incentives for r&d vastly exceed those available in the u.s. (the same incentives that companies use when shipping manufacturing jobs overseas). and the list goes on and on and on... |

| The Spear Location: I think I live at school... Posts: 9 | As i read through this article I thought this is a great idea. But once I got to the 100 million Celsuis tempature that goes on inside this generator. I kinda changed my mind... Do anyone know what would happen if this generator exploded? It would cause a massive explosion! Also as I it over again I saw that it only costs 37 million U.S. dollars as an investment. It also said that it was a 15th to a 20th of the cost of other ones. Does that mean that there is others involved in this project too? Also they compared it to being able to create energy equivalent to 300 litres of gasoline. That's not even a comparison...Can I put this generator into my car? Probally not. |
