In other words you have faith that no god exists.
    Astonishing.

    Yes, isn't it.

Religion is poison because it asks us to give up our most precious faculty, which is that of reason, and to believe things without evidence. It then asks us to respect this, which it calls faith. - Christopher Hitchens

    Nice quote mining.
Far from it, it's actually highlighting your blatant misrepresentation of Peter's position (which lacked any explanation on your part) and my astonishment at the fact that so many theists seem to have an inability or unwillingness to comprehend agnostic atheism.

Here's what I know: If an atheist ran for president, there's virtually no chance he would win. That's because so many Americans are Christian, and desire for the tradition to go on.
It's sort of a vicious cycle.

Here's what I think: I can call myself an atheist because, when confronted with religious views, I can tell them "I think your explanation is less probable than mine, if not totally unrealistic." Scratching my head about how atheistic I am is basically a waste of time. If someone proved that God existed, I would be logically compelled to agree that one exists. In that sense, I could be considered agnostic. However, I would still say I'm atheistic.

I have been reading this book on "Logical Positivism" which basically covers this approach.

Angrily? That's not very nice. Of course, I guess if someone was trying to proselytize to them and accusing them of being blasphemers, evil and worshipers of Satan I could see where they might get a little peeved. Context is everything.
    It sure is.

And while I have read several posts like this:

Ancient aliens seeding life on earth is infinitely more plausible than a supernatural creator who made us to enjoy orgasms and then forbids us to jack off. Anyone believing that has severe mental issues, the desire for sado masochism or likely both.
I have not encountered any like you describe.

I have no trouble with agnosticism at all, it makes perfect sense. Atheism, and especially terms like agnostic atheism, are bullshit. Anyone with the intellectual capacity of, lets say, Winnie The Pooh, upon seeing the admittedly skillful mental gymnastics the "atheist" are inclined to perform while trying to just get past the simple definition of atheism and god given by reliable sources speaks volumes. Well, I think its a disgrace!

    I'm agnostic and atheist.

I don't know if gods exist or not(agnostic) but so far the evidence for gods is unconvincing (atheist).

    Compare to-

I have faith god exists (theist).

Theist = belief in the existence of a god or gods

Atheist = disbelief in the existence of a god or gods

Agnostic = undecided concerning the existence of a god or gods.

Seems simple enough. Does this rankle anyone of either position?

The last time I checked, the "simple definition of atheism" was "lack of belief in deities".

Non sequiter to the defining of two actual positions, theist and atheist, and the squishy middle area, agnostic.

You either believe in the existence, disbelieve in the existence, or are unsure of the existence, of god or gods.

If you cannot define the term "god or gods", then you are most likely unsure of their existence.
