I think it is the specific concept of a specific God atheists tend to have a problem with, which sort of puzzles me because most of them are pretty open minded about ETs. See my post directly above.

I don't think you fully understand the meaning of the Bible. God created man to live forever in paradise conditions under his guidance and protection. Adam rejected that and under the influence of his wife who had been deceived by the angel who was there to protect them raised the question of Jehovah's sovereignty, before not only all of Adam's offspring to come but also the spirit creatures in heaven. In all fairness God had to step back and allow the question to be addressed. Can mankind exist without the protection and guidance of God? You continue to reject God, so it isn't accurate or fair to blame him for the atrocities of Adam's decision.

That's a good point. If such an omnipotent deity exists I question whether he truly loves. Look at all the atrocities in our world even after so called saviours like Jesus.

On top of that we are supposed to have a loving relationship with us yet he hides himself from us.

God reminds me of an alcoholic stepfather. He commands respect from us but he is never around.

I'm all for having a skeptical attitude, I consider myself a skeptic, but if, like you say, you are seeking God, then upon what grounds do you question his existence, his saviors and his love, place the blame of the atrocities of your world upon him, suggest he is hiding from specifically a possible lovingly relationship and compare him to an absent alcoholic step father?

If that is acceptance who needs rejection?

You have answered your own questions. The point to this is that there is evidence which suggests the definition of atheism and the concept thereof is nonsensical. It demonstrates an appallingly obtuse understanding of that which it claims to be critical of.

Well, both. I'm not atheist by any means. As I said earlier, there are many gods in the Christian Bible.
