    Problems with Genesis Part 3

What did the Serpent lie about? Adam and Eve did not die the day they ate the fruit and God confirms they will now be like Gods and is why he did not want them to eat from the Tree.

Until changes take place in your post, I'm not sure too many will respond.

    Here's my take:
When God said "you will surely die" in the Bible, he was probably referring to their souls. Basically, God is saying he rules his domain, and if you break any of his rules you're a terrible creature.

The Baha'i have a similar God who talks about everything as a "servant" -- It's "My" this and "My" that.

    Proclamation of Bahá’u’lláh:
"Know assuredly that My commandments are the lamps of My
loving providence among My servants, and the keys of My mercy
for My creatures. Thus hath it been sent down from the heaven of the Will
of your Lord, the Lord of Revelation."

    English Standard Version (©2001)
but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

    New American Standard Bible (©1995)
but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die."

    King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

    GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
But you must never eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because when you eat from it, you will certainly die."

    King James 2000 Bible (©2003)
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.

    American King James Version
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.

    American Standard Version
but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

    Douay-Rheims Bible
But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat. for in what day soever thou shalt eat of it, thou shalt die the death.

    Darby Bible Translation
but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest of it thou shalt certainly die.

    English Revised Version
but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

    Webster's Bible Translation
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest of it thou shalt surely die.

    World English Bible
but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it; for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die."

    Young's Literal Translation
and of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou dost not eat of it, for in the day of thine eating of it -- dying thou dost die.'

This verse can be interpreted two ways.

1: Either it mean that when the day comes that they eat of the fruit, they will die. It does not specify when they will die.
2: It can also mean that when they eat the fruit, they will die on that day.

Given that Adam and Eve died eventually, the meaning of the verse is the first. Also this verse was translated from Hebrew to English so a little translation problem can tweak the meaning of the verse. So you cannot prove from the verse alone that it means the second.

Third, given that someone did make all of this stuff up? Wouldn't you think he would be smart enough not to make any obvious contradictions in his story?

So when the devil says that Eve will not die, he is lying because she did eventually die.

“The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful then a thousand heads bowing in prayer.”

That the scene is posed in the past belies the immediacy of the allegory. The automatic mind, whether of man or other living thing is the result of a separation and forming of a body from the stuff of the world. This act of becoming I distinguished from the NOT I is lived in most any conflict of daily life from driving to finding the remote. The Fall is typical of the process that drives heritable life and is epitomized by the methods of experimental science to ascertain and take the measure of paths that can be adjudicated as to levels of good and evil resuting from their use.

If the terrain and the map do not agree, follow the terrain.

When motherhood becomes the fruit of a deep yearning, not the result of ignorance or accident, its children will become a new race.
