Should Politics be mixed with Sport

MCCAIN INTRODUCES RESOLUTION CALLING ON FIFA TO BAN IRAN FROM SOCCER WORLD CUP
http://mccain.senate.gov/index.cfm?f...ontent_id=1692

Whilst there are plenty of examples of this occuring South Africa & Russia both banned in the past.

Is it not better to allow the competition to occur and let the representatives of Iran feel the distaste of the world whilst being welcomed for their committment to soccer?

Politics frequently gets dragged into sporting events,
Quote:
Americans attended every Olympics until the Moscow Games, of 1980, which they boycotted to protest the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Sixty-two countries joined the boycott, including -- you guessed it -- the People's Republic of China...
...But the rest of us don't have to help. Lest we repeat the errors of 1936, the United States should lead a boycott of the 2008 Olympics. Anything less will give the Chinese the same kind of propaganda boost that the Nazis enjoyed.

It demeans the spirit of competitive sports, but then almost every human endeavor gets politicized these days it seems.

Ever since McCain got neutered by the Bush Jr the AWOL boy via the smear machine, McCain nevered acted like his own man.

It's too weird seeing decorated war veterans cowering before chickenhawks and draft dodgers running this country.

I say let's do better. Kick the whole of the Bush Jr out of office and find a deaf hunchback with a knobbed and asymmetrical face to take the seat of commander in chief.

I have full faith the deaf hunchback will blow Bush Jr and his team out of the waters when it comes to running the country.

And this has to do with politics v sport how?

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

The government should stay out of the private sector as much as possible.

Why should we be allowed into the soccer world cup, but not Iran?

Is our terrorism acceptable to the world? Its hypocrisy.

I also think government should butt out when it comes to steroid use before it became illegal. This witch hunt for Barry Bonds is crap.
Go after the guys who broke the law, AFTER IT BECAME LAW.

But make it uniform. If its illegal for Baseball and football, then you gotta go after the wrestlers, too.

Double standards are bullshit. Also, if lawmakers break drug laws they should get maximum sentences, MANDITORY!

Also, I dont think there are enough bodies available if you outlaw cortisone and steroid treatment for sports injuries.
