I'm impressed, bugs, considering how well the 200,000 U.S. troops that have rotated in and out of Iraq, the 2,300 dead and the 18,000 maimed and wounded has worked so far at solving the problem.

Enlisted members of the armed forces swear their oath to those appointed over them; an officer swears an oath not to a person but to the Constitution. The distinction is important.

It is time to send a signal to our nation, our forces and the world that we are uncompromising on our security but are prepared to rethink how we achieve it. It is time for senior military leaders to discard caution in expressing their views and ensure that the President hears them clearly. And that we won't be fooled again.

this soldier has VOLUNTEERED TWICE OVER TO RETURN to Iraq. he said that when the news reached him that the polls had come to the states from the question of whether they wanted to stay in Iraq, he was "apalled" by the media's "twisting" of the polls. his unit is all there and doesn't want to come back yet. on live radio, they said that they wanted America to know the truth of what our troops wanted, and it wasn't what our media told us. this is what I picked up off of a live interview held over the phone with a soldier in Iraq on 107.9 Duke FM Chattanooga, TN. this soldier's entire unit had volunteered unanimously to make their third trip to Iraq, and said they would make a fourth on the air shortly before reception cut out. this soldier had the mike, that is what he said. I thank him over this idiot who eats what the press feeds him.

As much as I respect the sacrifice and sense of duty our troops are displaying in Iraq, the fact that 90% of them still believe that they're there in retaliation for Saddam Hussein's direct role in 9/11 speaks far more to their lack of understanding of the situation than any one soldier's opinion. Their loyalty to each other, and by extension to their commander in chief, probably serves them well given their situation.

Once they've left the service, however, it's apparent that Iraqi veterans have figured out the truth. Witness the fact that Iraqi veterans now running for Congress are running as Democrats, by around 5 to 1.

AGAIN, Morgan, since 90% of our troops in Iraq apparently believe - wrongly - that we're there in retaliation for Saddam Hussein's role in 9/11, I fail to see how serving in combat would suggest any particular understanding of anything close to the big picture going on over there, beyond what they're told or the tunnel vision of their own little window to the world.

Do you mean to tell me that they can fight in the war, but not have an opinon? If anybody should be polled it's the active duty soldiers in the middle east.

What do you mean, wrongly? Of course that's why we're there. The fact that 90% of them believe it is all the evidence you need.

The fact the Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 is a purely academic consideration.
