Does Britain Have a Totalitarian Future?

My friend is very opposed to this bill. The bill, as I understand it, is designed to take some of that pesky burden of legislating off the British Parliament. He thinks totalitarianism is lurking over Britain's horizon. Does anyone want to weigh in?

Numerous right, left, and center articles in U.K. papers denouncing this bill:
From the Guardian: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/comme...723807,00.html
From the Times of London: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...040625,00.html
From the Daily Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...18/ixhome.html
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/m...ixopinion.html
From the Financial Times: http://news.ft.com/cms/s/2a9db720-be...0779e2340.html

The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill itself

The Nazi Government Decrees of 1933 (especially the Enabling Act - section b of the listing):

If only I could saith, so should I.

.

Everyone saw 'V for Vendetta', did they? :)

All I know is that whenever I used to see a movie with a great car chase, afterwards I'd get in my car and imagine myself as Bullit.

I say:
I think this is England stepping up to take part in their role in the New World Order.

Many will scoff or laugh (like Sonart), but the proof is in the pudding. Look at the similarities between reactions to 9-11 in U.S. and English law.

Global tyranny knows no national boundaries.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. -- Song 8:6

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I really don't know enough about British domestic politics to really say one way or another. Then again, the Leebos around here see tyranny under every bed.

It's just that I saw 'V for Vendetta' the other day, so when I saw your post, I had this mental image of Brits rushing out of theatres all fired up to storm Parliament.... whether there was any reason for it or not.

Sorry about that... tired... long day.... {snork} :)

I am not usually affected by impersonal remarks like that Sonart. But jeers, just the same.

The Bill does offer a very good opportunity for some radical changes if we don't vote and become apathetic to our political process.

Mendleson is correct the march to create a mighty United EU should not be shunned, we must unit and embrace the neighbours whose blood runs through our veins.
Unless of course your Xenophobic and forget most of the Socialist doctrines come from our brothers and sister across the channel.

I agree but for a different reason. I think the steps both the U.S. and UK are taking have more to do planning for an upcoming economic apocalypse than NWO.

The whole world is on very shaky financial ground right now.
