Paul O'Neil said it best. " Being in a meeting with Bush is like being in a meeting with a blind man with a room full of deaf people." That says it all. Dubya is the puppet and the puppeteer is Cheney. You know the old expression "the smartest person in the room". Well in order for Dubya to be the smartest person in the room, he'd have to be in with the likes of an Alfred E Newmen and even then it might be a toss-up.

The "dumbed down of America" crowd has an MTV mentality and all they can understand is the sound bite of the day. And this crowd in office knows how to talk to these people. Say one thing and do the opposite. Lie, mis-lead and deceive are the mantra's of this administration. Their main objective is to keep the country scared to death and they (Bush and Company) can get away with anything.

Jimmy Carter had integrity. Dubya doesn't (even) know the meaning of the word.
Thorpe you seem to be the only one who gets this post. I was trying to display just how inept George W. Bush is. The guy reminds me of the obnoxious drunk who saddles up along side of you at a bar and proceeds to bend your ear with pure junk. THank god he is sober now. Wait come to think of it if he was still a drunk he never would hve been elected. You look at Jimmy Carter 81 years old articulate and extremely well informed.

If you are alluding to the ex-president Billy Clinton, I've got to agree.
I'm referring to all of them, but especially Reagan who was off making millions before the chair in the oval office was even cold. They all do it.

Carter has spent a lot of time in Mexico building homes for poor Mexicans. Why the hell does't Mexico help build homes for poor Mexicans here? The answer BTW is: The Mexican government doesn't shive a get.
He's spent time all over North America building homes for the poor, not just Mexico. I figure that since they're building all these new homes in Mexico though, we oughta be throwing illegals across the border... head first... to fill them. And then reduce any foreign aid we give to Mexico by the amount that their illegals cost us.

Jesus loves me? No thanks, I don't swing that way.

He is a consistent failure.
He started the wonderful problem with Radical Islam by doing NOTHING about them having USA hostages for over 400 days.
Then he made the Shaw leave and Saddam took power.
He passed a law for re-regulating the financial institutions that gave us the Saving and Loan crisis that went on clear through Bush #1.

He is a waste of good air and always has been.

Such as what? Invading Iran? 50 dead hostages and a quagmire. Good call.

I think Jimmy Carter was not a particularly good president, nor was he particularly bad one.

The main problem was that he was a genuinely good person and nice guy, neither of which are qualities that lend themselves well to politics.

His new book is good - among other things, he points out that if you are Christian, you should favor a clear separation of church and state, and that the "religious right" does not have an exclusive claim to morality (or a very good one at all).
Well said.

How did an honest man get elected president? Crooks prevented him getting his 2nd term.

Are there many ex-presidents as effective as Carter? He is probably better appreciated outside the USA than at home.

Just watched Jimmy Carter being interviewed on "Hard Ball" still sharp as a razor. Its sad that we have to suffer through Dubya interviews seeing him stumble around butchering the the English language. Where did we go wrong? How can people be so naive?
I'd rather listen to Bush butcher the language than pay for Carter's butchery of the economy.
