Oh man, you are completely incapable of the partisanship aren't you?

It was HIS group, his people, at his direction.

You make it sound like it was okay that the dirty money only came from his lobby office, since it didn't come "directly" from him in person.

Can you prove the alligations against the republicans are all "personally" from Jack? Would you excuse them if the money came from those working for Mr. Abramoff instead?

You got spanked, and are too stubborn to admit it.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

Reid is the only Democrat listed above that is still in office, and if he goes down with ALL the Republicans that were bribed........oh well, to me that's a fair bargain.

While the whole affair shows how messed up washington is with lobbyist, I must say the patently false claim made by the likes of Howard Dean "No Democrats have taken money from Jack Abramoff" is... I think going to be useful. And I don't mean this as a conservative GOP supporter, but as a conservative.

Lobbyists are high on my list of "Muffed up things with the political system". I hope this whole affair gets LOTS of attention. The GOP Saying "Hey our guys weren't alone" and the Dem's saying ""Yes they were!" and then we see that it's a mess.

Maybe people will push to fix this system. Realize BOTH parties need to be spanked for this sort of sad abuse of trust and power. I am hoping, honestly that it can lead to some changes that will alter the way both parties do business (or even give rise to a new power if one or both cannot change) that makes thing sbtter in Washington. Or they'll find a new way to do the same ol dsame old if the people don't speak out.

We shall see.

I think we should take this one case at a time. If dems have Abe's dirty money on there hands then they whould take the same exposure as the numerous GOP leeches.

Bush Abramoff photos removed from Official White House Photographer website:
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/007536.php

The photos were "Not Relevant".
Sounds like more of a reason to leave them in, not delete them.

Would they be relevant if Osama bin Laden were in the pics?
Of course not. Extra Super-duper irrelevant.

So what is the point here? If Democrats are dirty like it apears Republicans may be does it change anything at all?

Democrats bribed by a lobbyist? I am shocked, SHOCKED!

i don't think enough attention was paid to the merits of this story before this thread was moved to misc... it'd definitely a legitimate topic and doesn't belong in this sub-forum.

these photos can help unearth instances where the relationship between the lobbyist and the white house were a lot closer than bush may admit.

I don't see why they don't release the pictures. Bush in his speech today said they are of him apparently shaking hands with Abramoff and he went on to say he shakes hands with LOTS of people. A good point and he is absolutely right. But the question then is why NOT release them? Bush could then say, "See, I'm shaking hands at some WH dinner. Big whoopdy-doo!" That's what I would do anyway.

the pictures add fuel to the fire.. more bad publicity for a corrupt administration.

seeing the pictures, people will probably begin to be more inquisitive since there's something tangible right in front of their faces. i definitely agree that these pictures won't prove anything, but i'd expect them to cause bush some pain.. imagine seeing one of these pics as the front cover of the latest edition of time magazine?

His employer and co-workers are'nt indicted for corruption. He is.
If you have an FEC report showing Jack---off gave money to Dems, I would love to see it.

Ordinarily I would agree, but the current flock of sheep makes me think otherwise. They want to be told what to think and GWB is just the guy to tell 'em.

there will always be dead-enders though.. even saddam still has supporters.

i think there are a good number of independents out there who voted reluctantly for bush last time around. people who were persuaded by his fear-mongering. i look at any new scandal for bush as another chance of seeing the republicans lose control of congress and/or the white house.

that definitely doesn't mean that i'm cheerleading for the dems though. just saying that this party has done some serious damage during their brief playtime with power.

True, and Saddam's supporters are also the right's reason #174 for why we must stay in Iraq.

I know it's my pessimistic side talking but these "independents" haven't impressed me much in the last two elections.

I would say that's an understatement, yes. I think the next presidential election will be the most interesting (and probably the most depressing) election out of the last TEN.

we thought about putting my youngest cat up on the ballot - lawrence mcduck.. either that or "mianus".

i have a friend who's all excited about the possibility of seeing kerry run again.. i also think this friend has a few chromosomes missing...

off/on topic:
I am glad Kerry is thinking about another run. Because of that he will be taking a stand for democracy with a filibuster. I wouldnt vote for him though. He lied to America "We will count every last vote", that lasted about 20 minutes.

Kerry's had his shot. He appears to be just another pandering politician. Of course, that's the ONLY kind of person you will ever see run on either side. People don't give a million bucks to a campaign and expect nothing in return.

Bush's response was priceless in my opinion. The way he dismissively added "I get my picture taken with lots of people I don't know", then he casts a contemptuous look at the reporter, and adds "like you".

If scAlito werent so far to the right (god I hate using that term for something so wrong) I wouldnt adise a filibuster. This appointment will haunt us for decades. O'Connor was a moderate, but also a woman. Alito is a corporate schill, and a bigot who sits on trials he has money riding on.

Doesnt represent me. To say the least.

The point I was trying to make, which has been ignored it would seem, is that this scandle shows how muffed Washington is, and is a good point for reform. Hopefully when the full story is out, we will see positive changes.

Oh and gr8, try responding to threads by following the rules.
