Uhm, that grain of salt doesn't sell me. Sorry I didn't like Syraina, perhaps you did.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

I didn't say everyone Chris, I said there are members here that scoff at the mere mention of the word Christian. If you want to try and deny that, go for it. I was but making a point that is valid, just go hit the religious forum to see my point.

Also, this story is several days old and only now is it here... because of Apeman. I was waiting to see if it would get mentioned. Thank you Apeman.

Lots of stories go under the radar of the Volconvo crowd.

I occasionally link stories in the breaking news section, but most people expect you to attend to any threads you start. Some topics just aren't that important to me.

Yeah, go see it, or at least read the premis of the movie.

This story is going under the radar, apparently, of the majority of the world.

I guess this sort of capture and kill program is expected of these terrorists

Geez, did you guys even bother to read the supplied link?? While her situation is reported widely now, it was kept quiet deliberately in the beginning for her own benefit. It took extra effort to try and help her, a lot more effort than just reporting it all at the beginning. First of all, it was an attempt to keep the abductors from keying on the word "Christian" in the name of her news organization.

"There was fear that her affiliation with a paper with the word “Christian” in the title might cause her captors to treat her harshly"

I agree that the major media are deficient in a lot of ways, but in this case they went out of their way to try and help. Your cheap shots are laughable, you make yourselves look stupid. Get real.

"But in an almost unprecedented move, media organizations in Baghdad— Arabic and English alike—kept a lid on the news in hopes that a media blackout would give negotiators and rescuers time to win her release. For two days it mostly held, to the point where early reports mentioning her affiliation with the Christian Science Monitor were pulled from Web pages."

But the military won't take me. I tried numerous times. They won't take me. And I bet I could have done just as good a job as anyone else.
unless you score below cat iv
The Army met its recruiting goal for November by again accepting a high percentage of recruits who scored in the lowest category on the military’s aptitude tests

I scored fine but the only reason they wouldn't let me in is because when I was in highschool I lost my eye. thats why they won't take me. not age or anything,I am only 23

The Army exceeded its 5,600 recruit goal by 256 for November, while the Army Reserve brought in 1,454 recruits, exceeding its target by 112. To do so, they accepted a “double digit” percentage of recruits who scored between 16 and 30 out of a possible 99 on the military’s aptitude test, said officials who requested anonymity
99 questions with four multi choice replys, even if you guessed you might get 24% right, how dumb do you have to be to only get 16% right and still get to join the army?

Well I was always raised don't do something that you can't finish or don't finish. I think we just need to stop being so nice and just finish the job but the important thing to me is the safety of the troops, I would like them home. My brother just got home two days ago from the navy and I had about 30 friends that went over to iraq for two years with the local gaurd unit. and am glad to report they all came back alive, lots wounded but still breathing. they did their job but everyone of them will tell you that being over there really made them feel they were helping. They all told me that there is a reason for us to be over there. an actual quote was " We may have went for a wrong reason, thats not for me to say, but when we get there it was very apparent that we needed to be there" Thats why I say jsut get it over with. Stop messing around with these people. We dropped bombs on japan and rebuilt them, they are flurishing now. its gonna cost money we are already rebuilding send a warning that it will happen in like 48 hours, if your still here atleast you knew. There will be buses and checkpoints on the border to check you out. I don't know its just a theory, my prayers are with the soldiers because they are over there risking there lives so we can all complain about why there doing it. Any veterans reading this, thank you for your service to this country its people like you that make me proud. thank you

The story should be well publicised because it shows the mindless brutality and senseless antics of the Muslim terrorists. They violate the freedom of a news reporter and attempt to use her as a bargaining chip for what I cant imagine? It should convince the American public and the world of the evilness of these terrorists
I hope it provides a glimmer of recognition to some on this site as to just what we are dealing with in Iraq. Those who claim we are treating prisoners too roughly(torture they call it), those who complain when several innocents are killed when we retaliate agains violent acts of these goons. Those who blame our troops for doing their duty and protecting the civilians in Iraq as well as trying to bring a modicum of peace and stability to the country. Those who don't have enough patirnce to see it through!

Thus we play the fools with the time, and the spirits of the wise sit in the clouds and mock us.

FYI: The Christian Science Monitor is an extremely liberal news source, contrary to its title and popular belief.

Are you folks completely disconnected from the news cycle? The story is all over the cable news and is being covered in the Middle Eastern newspapers and Al Jazerrah. Sunni leaders in Iraq are calling for her release which is getting fairly wide coverage. Not sure whose radar the story is supposed to be under.
