| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,663 | Breaking news I needed a weather report so I tuned in channel 7 news and ended up watching both the local and world news programs here in L.A. California. (link to their webpage). Aired today. Some interesting things happening. I thought the top story is that soon our prepresentives will be voting on new anti-lobby regulations that will forbid any government law maker from accepting a gift of more the $20.00 (that amount for covering a lunch in case they are talking then with a lobby group). This is on the heels of a FBI sting operation that has been going on for over a year. They have arrested about 300 state officals for taking bribes from special interest groups, and major scandals have tanted the Federal officals such as Congress (both parties). The corruption is abundant in every level of government, even with judges and police department officals. They just pay and get their way and the normal voters have no say. That is what the FBI probe seems to have uncovered. The problem is nearly reaching the "out of control" status. Meanwhile poltical people in key control positions are getting tons of stuff for free, houses, expensive vacations, boats, and so forth. Then when a desired bill comes up for passage they earmark it with a tag on in favor of the lobby group so it can get passed without seperate debate on the floor. President Bush might make reform of the lobby situation a keynote topic for his next big speech. Taking bribes has always been unlawful but it is not always easy for the FBI to catch them in the act. In another news story another privacy "right" has been removed concerning your medical treatments. (not meaning you personally nor everyone). If you get tested for HIV and they find you "got it" and you seek medical treatment your name and social security number goes into a computerized file that a number of research groups can access. This is so that they can trace the spread of that problem if you infect people in your area via sex or in some other manner. No more secret codes to protect the idenity of those with AIDs. Not sure if your employer or insurance company will be able to review such data or not. In a local news story California is prepearing for a major outbreak of the bird flu, as it has already reached this state. They expect that about 30 percent of the population will become infected and will need the drugs used to help combat the illness. They are stocking up with medical supplies. Also they have blueprinted plans for closing schools and for doing other things to control the spread when it happens. Any comments? |

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,663 | First of all I am not "making claims" about anything. You could also say that the Channel 7 newsman is making claims and they provide no links for such claims other then their own webpage or that they got it "off the wire" which is used by all news reporters. All you can do is confirm that the story first appeared someplace else, but then how are you going to confirm that they are saying the truth, by faith and faith alone? If you wish to not to respond to my posts in the future that is fine with me, I got nothing to loose. I am not selling anything and don't have to answer to the "station rating's chief" - and Bush cannot have me fired for saying that he did something sneaky during his miltary days. I offer free information but I am not a pupet for "media control and manipulation". I will not get into that box. So you should seek another box boy for your news. Yea hey - freedom of the press. |

As people might try more then one location to seek different kinds of treatments. But I wonder why they bother tracking AIDS when it is all over the place anyway. But I guess some department must do that so the President can know what is happening down in the boondocks. But imagine if someone in Congress or some famous preacher got on the list, do you not think it would be "leaked" to the press by someone? But I wonder how they traced it back when it first appeared in the USA - somehow they traced the first cases to this fellow who came over from Africa who happened to get involved in the gay community. Then when they checked out his home town in Africa they found that many of the people there had AIDS, men, women and children. At first they said that they got the strange new illness from eating monkeys but further testing showed that none of the monkeys in that area had the problem. The virus was a combination of two spieces - the generic splicing of cow genes with those of a ocean fish, which then had to grow in a lab before being introduced into humans. Useing dates as referrence points they determined the illness could have generated about the same time that the World Health Organization gave out free flu shots to that village of people. Shortly after that news came out it was then reported by "our experts in the medical field" that such was just some crazy "conspiracy" and worthy only of our smerks. But then potential bio-weapons are not always controlable or pratical as they are hoped they would be. I have no links for this "well known story" but you might still find it on some old hippies webpage - yes, the story is still out there somewhere on the great information highway in cyberspace. Also many publications in the gay community carred the story. (1980s -1990s). But the point is - they tracked it using medical records back then - as the health departments can access such data. But then some guy got fired because his boss (perhaps he held a governmental job?) found out. So we had a big hoopla about that and so they started to allow people to use secret codes, but when they went someplace else to sign up for treatment they got a different code and that confused the people trying to track the spread of the disease. So they requested that the code system be dropped and that they use the older name and number method. And they got their request. Thanks for tuning into Technosoul's News report, have a good evening Ameirca (or wherever you are). | |
