| Hot Lava Posts: 1,859 | 7 stations nationwide? wow... http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/menu/rush....guest.all.html if only the left could buy 600 more stations to force their propaganda down everyone's throat... no matter... I am sure franken will get 2 or 3 listeners... free enterprize is great... but if there was such a thirst for liberal talk radio, the market would have made room years ago... "I really like this jacket, but the sleeves are much too long..." insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results... |

Thousands of neoconservative stations are just broadcasting; but 7, or even 607, liberal stations would be 'forcing propaganda down everyone's throat.' Hey, I know that I can keep the rightwing nutjobs away from my ears, when I want to, by simply not listening. I guess rightwingers haven't figured that out yet. Well, maybe that's why they keep getting their brains addled by RW radio -- they don't know that they can turn it off. Oh, well, I don't really want to disabuse you of the idea: just in case we do get up to 607 liberal stations, I love the thought that you wouldn't realize that you could simply refuse to listen to any of them. |

| Molten Ash Posts: 68 | Microsoft has a monopoly on operating systems as the Right Wing has a monopoly on talk radio. If you want to dent Microsoft's hold, you have to have a tight organization and a lot of support because, even if people are receptive to a new OS, Microsoft can effectively take over and control the market, and even that company to a ridiculous extent(trivia: who owns majority stock in Apple Computers?) This is merely a single spire to which fledgling Liberal stations can take hold until they are strong enough to stand on their own. Who knows if it'll be successful, but in order to combat the conservative stranglehold you need to start with a strong attack. And regarding Rush... even he doesn't believe half the crap he spews. |

| Molten Ash Posts: 68 | Something few people have mentioned... Al Franken and Jenine Garafalo, the two headlining celebrities for Air America, are comedians. The whole format will likely revolve around comedic interpretations of news, a la The Daily Show. That worked very well for them. |

Obviously, many, many people find them funny. |

| Hot Lava Posts: 1,859 | we'll see after 3 months when the radio ratings have come out and show that no one is listening to these humourless comedians... if they even last 3 months... best seller? how many books total? slighthly over 1 million? what about the 240 million others who DIDN'T waste their money on his book? why isn't he on SNL anymore? obviously many many MORE people find them offensive and not funny at all... | Guest Posts: n/a | Hmm, I didn't find it offensive, and I'm a moderate at best. I'm glad there's a new voice on radio, and I'm sure they'll do well. I just hope they can take it further than the major cities. Oh and imp, since when do people who do well stay on SNL? It's a waiting list for real work. |

| Guest Posts: n/a | WOW, finally, Air America is here. Now I can have people sooo much smarter than I tell me what I have to do in order to further America's advancement towards a Socialist Eutopea. It's about time. I thought I was going to have to think for myself forever. Maybe now I won't have to work so hard and start collecting some of that money stollen from all those evil rich people. How do I cash in O'Frankin? |

| Molten Ash Posts: 68 | Dave... show me one way that having a liberal talk station is any worse than having a conservative talk station. This is just a balancing of powers. I'd rather have two polarly opposite sources than one source that is biased. If it were the opposite situation, I'd be for the conservative network as well. And imp: how many books have you sold? For that matter(and this is out of ignorance of the facts... not an attack) how many books has Libaugh sold? Twist facts much? |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Hey fish, the only thing worse than conservative talk shows are liberal talk shows. Personally I don't the extreeme wings of either end of the political spectrum. One wing is populated by Theocrats, the other by Socialists. How can you decide which is worste? |

| Molten Ash Posts: 68 | I'm not, I'm just saying I'd rather have both populating any given media outlet than one monopolizing it. It's like how during the Cold War, we helped China because, although we hated their communist ways, they were competing with Russia. If China fell, Russia would only have one enemy to focus on. Same idea. You may hate both liberal and conservative talk, but so long as you've got both fighting, there's less for you to do. |
