They opened the borders and allowed an over abundance of immigrants who had little or no interest if becoming French citizens.
Actually, those people are very happy to be French citizens. They just don't want to be second-class citizens.

Hey, everybody, the rioters are not all Muslim! Got it?

French socialism has lead not only to high taxation but also high unemployment, with the persecuted minority getting the shaft the hardest.
Ah bullshit. Successive right-wing governments in France have done nothing but cut-cut-cut in recent years. You're right, though, that unemployment is high and that Arab and African immigrants are particularly hard hit.

I would have not banned headscarves, as that is not something a government should do. It risks creating conflict, and I think it already has created conflict.
Grandpa, I didn't ask you what would would not do. I asked you what you would do. I'd appreciate your telling me.

Do we burn cars and buildings to protest that? Do you approve of what the Muslims are doing there in France?
First thing, Zealot my man, is for you to stop misrepresenting the situation. Listen closely: Nobody - is - burning - cars - in - France - because - of - the - headscarf - ban.
Taken that on board?

Isn't socialism supposed to benefit the poor? What are these guys discontent about? You should see the social welfare system (or lack thereof) in Hong Kong. I don't see any riots here. The last time Hong Kong was hit by serious rioting was in 1967 and it was started by the commies.

Wait a minute; I thought whenever someone disagreed with you, they were being dishonest. Now you claim they're ranting.
Seems to me they're just expressing their opinion.

There are many Christians symbols that have been banned in our schools already, you know that. Do we burn cars and buildings to protest that?

The foularde mess figures into the French unrest. French authorities have disclosed the participation of outside elements inciting misconduct motivated by the headscarf problem. What we witness is the backlash at a perceived excess which relates to both cultural and religious identity.

The problem is socialism Gramps, just like what is happening here. They opened the borders and allowed an over abundance of immigrants who had little or no interest if becoming French citizens.
Socialism and immigration are two different discussions.
By the way, does it make any sense to say French immigrants aren't interested in becoming French citizens. That's sort of a rough statement. I wonder if you could prove it.

I woudl do nothing. It would NOT be my job as a teacher to violate someone's religious beliefs. Now, if they were opening a Bible or a Quran in class, ok..I can see that causing a problem.

Yeah, America or its allies never have riots.

You're wrong of course, rum, and I defy you to produce a shred of evidence to back up your claim.

So let's get this straight, tiny. You're saying (apart from the fact that Frogs speak English with an amusing accent) that the French authorities have not been tough enough with the rioters.

Could you confirm that please?

Aside from raising the security level, they've also begun to build tanks again. In fact they're the first tanks to have rearview mirrors. Why? So they can see the battle, lol!

You betcha. Those rioters are thugs and should be treated as such (all within the proper legal limits of course). :)

Nono, some have claimed these French riots had to do with things like the prohibition against girls wearing headscarves in school. This French prohibition was perceived of as culturally or religiously insensitive.
