CNN: "Bush sends staff back to ethics class"

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/...ics/index.html

Quote:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- With his chief political aide under investigation as part of a probe into the public unmasking of a CIA operative, President Bush is sending his staff back to school -- ethics school.

Bush is requiring his executive office staff to attend refresher courses on ethics and handling classified materials, according to a White House memo.

"The President has made clear his expectation that each member of his Executive Office of the President (EOP) staff adhere to the spirit as well as the letter of all rules governing ethical conduct for EOP staff," states the memo sent to Bush's staff.

Staff members with security clearances will attend mandatory sessions next week, and those without security clearances will attend mandatory sessions the following week.

The memo went to all EOP staff, which numbers about 3,000, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

The refresher course comes as Bush's top aide, Karl Rove, is under investigation and as Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, faces indictments in connection with the outing of a CIA operative.
I am quoting CNN. In no way I am trying to be biased. I just thought this was too funny.

So it goes

That (the idea of them in ethics class) makes me smile.

What's next after ethics class? A refresher in military history? Say, Vietnam? Exit strategies?

I do not find it humorous, I find it sad and pathetic that such a refresher course would even be nescesary, if I had a staff who needed an ethics review I would just replace them all.

Will Bush be attending speech classes?
I swear I've never heard him speak sounding comfortable with words and able to express himself clearly.

I find it totally hilarious too. Obviously he doesn't think this is going to change how his staff operates, since they've been merrily doing what they've been doing for Bush for 5 years now. So obviously he thinks that telling the press he's sending his office people to ethics school is going to reassure the nation that he's taking steps to restore honor and honesty to the White House.

Weeeeeeee, I know I'm reassured.

.

I don't suffer from insanity... I thoroughly enjoy it

I'll bet Karl Rove cheats on the Final Exam.

Political Theater. Bush was elected through an operation that is unethical at its core. Karl Rove is a master of the unethical political operation, and he has achieved his goal of getting Dubya elected twice in a row. The McCain Smears in South Carolina, the Miami-Dade Recount-Stop "Riot", The Katherine Harris Florida Republican Co-Chair Caper, etc.

Now we have evidence that to stab an opponent's back Rove leaked the man's wife's undercover role in countering proliferation. This administration doesn't need ethics classes. They lack the CHARACTER to make good use of the training. Their entire operation is based on a cynical use and misuse of political and financial capital to enrich and empower themselves at the expense of the American people.

The Bush Administration are liars skilled in the use of propaganda and secrecy to shroud their real agenda. Ethics classes? Their supporters in America will likely buy the spin...

I think they need to go to school on what country they live in and what year it is. The White House is currently under the impression they are ruling Germany in 1940

Nice to know all the president's men need to take a class in telling right from wrong. I know I'LL sleep better for it!

The worst, and least funny thing is that Bush, or someone in his inner circle seems to think this will mollify the public. The second worst thing is that it just might work. I'll be looking at those approval ratings very closely in the very near future.
