Faked Data, then and now

[Here are a few interesting stories. The overall impression I get is of liars in our government trying to outrun the truth.]

NSA Faked Key Vietnam Data to Promote War:
http://telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jht...1/ixworld.html
"One of America's spy agencies faked key intelligence used to justify its intervention in the Vietnam War, it was disclosed yesterday."

Cheney's New Security Adviser Linked to Bogus Iraq Info:
http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwashington/13046078.htm
"WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney replaced I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby as his national security adviser on Monday with an aide identified by a former Iraqi exile group as the White House official to whom it fed information on Iraq that turned out to be erroneous."

Well, to put it blunty, I knew that ages ago... Not the exact stories, but the general idea of politics is to lie through your teeth to the public while trying to get more power. Funny me saying that being a student in politics, but I'll freely admit it.

The fact is, politics is simply the art of lying, or of talking lots but saying nothing, or both depending on the politician.

One other thing i like mentionning. The politicians who made the decisions in the days of Vietnam probably knew it was bogus information, but thought that history would look back on them and see that they made the right decision. As usual, they were proved wrong.

I read somewhere that the ONLY building in Baghdad not looted was the Oil
Ministry, which was well guarded by US troops.
What are your thoughts on this?

Yeah, I heard that one, too. It almost sounds too funny to be true--but you never know with this Administration.
